But when will it be available across the pond?
Comment by Gokker — Sep 24, 2008 @ 3:11 pm
Free batteries (cells) too? Or are they included in the non-Special Edition bundle as well? Spot the person who hasn’t ventured into the PS3 Buzz! Wireless world yet!
Never mind this “Buzz! Quiz TV Special Edition”, and/or something called “LittleBigPlanet”, everybody with kids knows that the biggest selling item at Christmas is a bumper pack of ‘AA’ batteries.
…and don’t forget the ABBA Singstar collection…
Only 92 days to go…

@fp the version out now came with batteries too .
I’m lost, other than a shiny blue box and a £3.49 question pack what makes this different from the version out now? the extra characters and eye compatibility came in an update a few weeks ago. Doesn’t look like it contain the funky red Buzz bag to keep your controllers in anymore either? How much extra will that shiny blue box cost??

Sony plans to offer a Special Edition of Buzz! Quiz TV this Christmas on PS3.
Alongside the game, gold-embossed case and wireless buzzers will be an extra 1000 questions to tie brains in knots with. Plus, there’s a bonus 500 videogame-themed questions, and a quiz on African wildlife that Ellie should be quite good at.
There’s lots of previously-released PSN content bundled in as well, such as four additional characters, Trophies, ten buzzer noises and a Quickstart mode to get straight into the action.
The Special Edition also has support for PlayStation Eye, which can take pictures of you looking confused or getting angry with your smarty-pants flatmate. Hi Chris!
Buzz! QuizTV arrived on PS3 back in July, boasting user-created and downloadable quizzes, wireless buzzers and online battles for groups of people on PSN.
The reception received was favourable, but the game quickly dropped off the UK all-formats chart.
Buzz! QuizTV finally launched yesterday in the US.

The product hasn’t made it to the ‘usual’ online mail order sites listings yet either.

Just to clarify and update you all the update that this applies to the new addition is now available for current players of buzz via an update on boot up

Thanks for your clarification.
So… we are concluding that you get a fancy box & extra questions.
This could just be a re-launch of the brand for the PS3 with just a little extra to warrant the “Special Edition” handle.
Hopefully the strong line-up of titles in the next few months will help promote “Buzz!” as well as all the other excellent products for the console that have been sadly overlooked by the majority of consumers so far.
PS. I will have to buy a PLAYSTATION®Eye soon anyway as the “Burnout Paradise” Trophy patch (due tomorrow) has a trophy that requires the use of the camera.
No,… wait, I don’t care about Trophies… almost let my guard down there for a minute with the thought of bragging about how I’ve already snagged many of the 64 Trophies quoted for inclusion (and retrospective appointment)…

WHAT IN THE HELL?
WHY are SCEE making a special edition of Buzz that has NO NEW FRETURES OR ANYTHING THAT WARRENTS A SPECIAL EDITION but refused to get the Resistance 2 special editio siting that “we at SCEE dont do special editions as they are too expensive to produce”
F***ing retards!!
Comment by Carl(threespeech censored me) — Sep 24, 2008 @ 4:38 pm
SOooooo…..we get a ‘Special Edition’ for Buzz, but SCEE is too lazy to bring over Resistance 2 SE? The same Resistance 2 that threespeech themselves described as ‘highly anticipated’?
Blow you Scee. I’ll not only give my money to SCEA and get a nice Resistance LE in return, but I won’t buy your stinking ‘Buzz LE’ that isn’t that ‘Special’ besides a fancy (useless) box.

Take that back (not literally).
Boxes are incredibly useful.
Maybe when the pricing of this product is announced we’ll see that it doesn’t cost any more than the Recommended Retail Price of the existing Buzz! Quiz TV/Wireless Controllers pack (I typed optimistically).
I expect with the notion that Buzz! is being relaunched that we’ll see PS3 console bundles including the Buzz! title & the wireless controllers in the lead-up to Christmas.
I’m also expecting to see PlayTV/160Gb Console bundles soon (fingers-crossed).

I can confirm that the game out now came with batteries
Looking forward to the Videogame quiz, not sure how much I’ll know though lol. As 10 said, boxes are useful and all my buzzers are currently in the free bag what came with the game, but I’d like one of those boxes for better presentation
Its a great multiplayer game and if done right could get more families on the PS3.

@7 [me]:
“Burnout Paradise” (Trophy Support) 1.50 Update (35Mb) is available NOW.
PS. “Geon Emotions” & “Megaman 9″ should be on the US ‘Store today (possibly the European ‘Store this week, or very soon thereafter).

…But the “Burnout Paradise” Trophies are not retrospectively awarded (at present), so it seems.
So those of you who have already found all the Billboards are going to have trouble gaining that one at the very least.
