According to a report from Next-Gen.biz, despite what Hideo Kojima has said in the past, Konami believe he’ll be involved in many MGS projects to come after the upcoming MGS4. Here’s what Anthony Crouts, Marketing VP of Konami had to say in a phone interview:
“I’m sure he’s never going to let go of Metal Gear Solid — trust me. [Snake’s] a big character, so as a franchise I think he’ll always hold it near and dear to his heart.”
“In one capacity or another, he will always be involved in the Metal Gear franchise.”
Kojima has previously said he would be stopping work on MGS, saying that his last game would be Metal Gear Solid 3 back in 2004. He has said that MGS4 will be the last in the series – however they will “continue to evaluate” ways to keep it going.

Good news for those eagerly awaiting Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 4 (really, who isn’t?) – Ryan Payton, speaking from Kojima Productions on Tuesday, said that they were starting work on an English demo.
“As of tomorrow, we’re going to start working on the English demo… Anything I say beyond what I’m going to say is going to incriminate me and people are going to know what I’m hinting at.”
Cryptic stuff!
No news on when this will be available just yet - keep tuned for more info.
From the Konami pre-TGS press conference comes news that the long awaited Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will in fact come with an online “starter pack”, giving you a small taste of the Metal Gear Online experience. Exact details aren’t available just yet - however, this does mean that you will have access to some kind of online functionality with MGS4 straight from the box, without buying Metal Gear Online which is classed as a separate game.
In other MGS4 news from the conference, a new trailer was shown (not available to the public just yet) and Hideo Kojima said that the game was still on track for an early 2008 release.

Konami announced yesterday that Hideo Kojima will be demonstrating Metal Gear Solid 4 at the Leipzig Games Convention. According to the press release, they will also be showing off the latest trailer which Kojima will use to “detail key plot points while also revealing exciting news about forthcoming Metal Gear projects from Kojima Productions.”
Here’s what Hideo Kojima had to say himself:
“When I last came to Leipzig, I promised fans of Metal Gear Solid they would be able to see a playable version of MGS4 – and, to celebrate the special nature of the occasion, I can confirm, that I will bring a special guest with me. I love the enthusiasm European games players constantly show towards our titles, and look forward to showing METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS at the most important European gaming event of the year.”
