   Considering the price will be the same notwithstanding the 4 months delay we deserve at least a Blu Ray movie bundled with the console. Casino Royale would be ideal.

   I think a game should be bundled, but I doubt that will happen. I’d be happy with Casino Royale.

4. Firmware Info?

   Any word whether we will we be receiving info on the forthcoming firmware update, either alongside this announcement or soon?

   We desperately need:
   - Custom soundtracks
   - Background downloading
   - In-game universal messaging / voice / videochat
   - In-game cross-game invites, i.e. I’m playing Resistance and can receive an invite to Motorstorm. Accept invite, switch discs and off we go.

   Just give access to some of the XMB options in-game. We already have universal login/logoff reports, and I’d hate to see Motorstorm miss out on custom soundtracks.

   Also, Motorstorm needs split-screen. Badly.

   Europe had to wait — justify their wait time and the price by offering features that are integral to the excellence of Xbox Live.

   Pre-Orders already ended here in germany. The old official pre-orders from June last year are still used, plus some more till… I think it was 2nd January when Amazon closed their PS3-Preorder-Site and different stores had to send out those pre-order-cards ppl filled out.

10. Yeah, its unfair that other countries get official Sony pre-order schemes and we’re left with nothing. I’ve just signed up on as many websites as possible, then when one emails me I’ll go down to the local store and pre-order (but check my position in the que first).

    I’d imagine they’ll start soon, probably very soon after Sony make their annoucement this week. Its only 2 months away.

12. Grrr…. I’ve had enough of SONY stuffing us around. I have preordered my 60Gb down at a local store in Australia and have been paying it off. If they dont release the details this week, they are gonna loose a fair few customers and their console is gonna go down… And by the way i love SONY products but this is just too far. 16. I just read that Jack Tretton said, the PS3 price can’t be reduced as fast as the PS2 price.

    For the PS2 it took 565 days until the price was first reduced.

17. This really sucks, i have been waiting for this damn console for so long, Sony really need a kick up the arse.
    They will lose if they keep up this sort of crap service as Microsoft is just waiting to steal it from them the moment they slip up, and on current form that can happen nearly every other week.

    some uk sites are taking pre-orders. play.com, kays.com and littlewoods.com are all ’selling’ ps3s and have been for some time. i pre-ordered on play.com months ago (although will cancel *if* i manage to get a pre-order on a more ‘reliable’ site - amazon, hmv, etc).

20. As reported on Akibablog.net and partially translated by Kotaku, some shops are said to be reducing the price for the 20GB model from YEN 49,980 (EUR 315) to YEN 39,980 (EUR 253) - a drop of 20 per cent.

    But market watchers PS3 wasn’t the only console to experience a post-Christmas sales slump - Media Create’s figures revealed that the numbers for Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 were also down during the same period.

32. I think the future of blue-ray rest with sonypictures exclusives. if sony releases spyder3 and casino royal only on dvd and blue-ray that could make people goes for playstation3.
    But i agree with you sony needs to start helping 3rd party developpers squeezing the best out of the system and quickly before it s too late.
