  2. Great news! One more bit of news I would like to know is about the Memory Card Adapter - I’ve got loads of PS2 saves I want to convert over. Will it be available in the UK?

  3. I think a launch sellout is pretty much guaranteed.
If you want an allegedally guaranteed machines play.com are taking preorders until their allocation runs out, but only with a bundle.

  4. pre-orderded mine form GAME, but ihave to adit, the play.com bundle is great.

  6. Would it be cynical to point out that it might be something to do with the HUGE delay in launching the thing? Or the fact that both the 360 and the Wii saw huge instant profits for speculators and people have got wise to this.

The attach rate of games in Japan was in the toilet becuase of speculators - it will be interesting to see if the UK is any different.

Oh and last but not least - last week the Wii outsold the PS3 in Japan 3 to 1….. ouch (again).

  7. Good news. All this talk about the ps3 “failing” etc has been proven BS. Just stupid fanboys upto no good.

Ordered my ps3 from amazon today, managed to get one of the availble pre orders so i am happy. I did have one at virgin but i doubt they really knew what they where doing. When asked what place in line i was they refused to tell me and when i asked how many consoles they expect to get they refused to tell me. So i went and refunded that today.

Starting to get exciting now :)

  14. I think europe was always going to be sony’s saving grace,i’m pre-ordered in game,i can’t wait to show all my friends who own that crap box toy what real next gen is like

    Comment by marko — February 16, 2007 @ 2:20 pm

  15. Yes we all like the PS3 but you can hardly call the XBOX360 a “crap box toy” marko. Also, I’d regard the “real next gen” you mention as owning and enjoying all three consoles for each of their benefits. Fanboyism is dead remember? Didn’t anyone tell you? :P

  19. basicly we,the customers, give sony gifts & awards for delaying it.

where is my gift, for still having faith in sony

(and not the extra movie, which every region got on their release)

    Comment by Darkie — February 17, 2007 @ 6:18 pm

  20. Darkie: Japan didn’t get a gift. Only the US has had one so far (and Europe _will_ get one).

    Comment by Toby — February 19, 2007 @ 12:14 pm

  21. @Toby

Well, Japan didn’t really need a freebie, because they get it a whole lot cheaper than anyone else, and there price drop they got was actually a very good gift if you ask me.

Still, looking forward to the PS3, because my Wii and 360 don’t get played a whole lot at the moment, even though I have some great games on it, well, the 360 at least. Not much on the Wii at all to be honest bar Zelda.

Motorstorm, F1, RR7 and R:FOM for me on launch, and looking forward to all of them. Just hope they are as good as they look.

Roll on 23rd, 1 day after my birthday. :)

    Comment by Cape — February 19, 2007 @ 1:32 pm

  22. why do you think sony added a delay to europe???
because they know it works, the have much more knowledge on the European market then Microsoft, as Europeans like a finished product and not a product which requires firmware updated every single week,,

    Comment by mark — February 19, 2007 @ 8:51 pm

  23. Just to prove how biased the web is - most have not picked up that PS3 is No.1 on Amazon UK, although some blogs were happy to point out PS3’s poor position on Amazon US (mainly because it’s out of stock).

    Comment by seedaripper — February 20, 2007 @ 6:54 pm

  26. Here! Here!

I keep waiting for the big Sony marketing push. I’ve seen 360 tv adverts this week.

Sony aren’t making much of an effort to shift the launch units

    Come on ZeroSpeech!

    Comment by FU666AR — February 20, 2007 @ 11:12 pm

  27. have to admit thought it would be full steam ahead with the ad campaign, there is loads of xbox ad’s on tv what’s going on sony,we need to generate more interest by starting to show ad’s showing what this machine truly is capable off.

    Comment by marko — February 21, 2007 @ 6:04 pm

  28. Every time I see an CrashBox advert I keep thinking where are all the PS3 adverts. My guess is that they’ll start running them ether close to launch or on launch day…

I think they’re pretty damn confident they’re going to shift all the launch units anyway so an advert campaign would only serve to massage the EGOs of the pre-order ticket holders and pre paid PS3 owners like me… (Bring on the ads! lol) :D

Oh and yeah…Whats with the silence threespeach???

    Comment by Xeauron — February 22, 2007 @ 10:14 am

  29. Damn…you guys can’t wait to pay $830 for a $599 product can you….

Enjoy as it will indeed be gaming greatness, personally i shall wait until Sony don’t rob me of a couple of hundred pounds for allowing me to play their console months late…

28 crazy people…this is indeed going to be the most sold out hard to find console ever to hit UK shores :O)

To all the Ebay sellers, in the words of the dude on Smash TV: ‘Goood luck, youuu’l need it!’

I believe its time for those haters to turn their smile upside down

    Comment by TGO — February 16, 2007 @ 4:11 am

@TGO…well…Wii is the #1 selling console in Japan by a long way, followed by PS3, and if you check yer NPD sales data in the US Wii is also the highest selling console, trailed by 360 then PS3…

Price cut already in Japan means they can get a PS3 20Gb for £170

Stop being a fanboy and notice when you’re wallet is being releived of more cash than people in other territories

That said with ICO team games and MGS4 PS3 will be incredible, you’ll still be ripped off though..

    Comment by Basil Brush — February 22, 2007 @ 10:37 am

  31. The Guardian casts doubt on those excited “pre-order” numbers today (http://technology.guardian.co.uk/weekly/story/0,,2017959,00.html) - the level of Woolworths pre-orders suggests it’s barely matching those for the Wii in the UK.

After all, perhaps those trumpeting these numbers didn’t have many Wiis or Xbox 360s allocated?

And certainly the sales in Japan do bear out a continuing non-hitness of the PS3 at present.

    Comment by Charles — February 22, 2007 @ 2:13 pm

  32. what might help Ps3 is some better titles on blue ray. Whilst Hd dvd has king kong, harry potter and superman blue ray has …? Sweet Fa as far as i can see. If that keeps up blue ray will got the way of betamax.

    Comment by phil — February 22, 2007 @ 4:12 pm

  33. @ Basil Brush
News flash..! We got ripped when the PSone and PS2 was released so whats the big deal?
We paid £300 for a £150 machine back in 2000
And don’t call me a fanboy just because I’m shocked by this report
you had no reason to be call me that so don’t
unless you are the one who is the fanboy and doesn’t like this report
yeah that may be it :?
    And with 1 PS3, 4 games + blu-ray remote ? * checks wallet* nope I ain’t broke
    I’ve still got £200
    what about you?

    Comment by TGO — February 23, 2007 @ 4:17 am

  34. @Phil
geez….Superman Returns(you can pick up the US version of it for £10 as it not region locked) & Harry Potter are already on Blu-ray mate
And Blu-ray is now out selling HD-DVD 3-1
its HD-DVD thats got sweet fa

  35. i thought all blue ray movies were region coded, is that not the case?
Also i based the poor selection of movies currently on Blue Ray on Hmv, Virgins and Amzons web site dint see Superman returns or Harry Potter.
is there somewhere else I should look for comprehensive list of available in the uk Blue Rays on Ps3 launch date?

    Comment by phil — February 23, 2007 @ 10:59 am

  36. Also went on Amazon uk’s web site for blue ray dvd and they had some more interesting selection eg House of Flying Daggers, The prestige etc on closer inspection the seller was from the US and I presume these wont play on my Ps3(assuming I get one).

    Comment by phil — February 23, 2007 @ 11:55 am

  37. 599 Euros model only at launch, record pre-orders even with such a delayed launch…

I could not think of a better way to top this off than…

    this: http://www.scee.presscentre.com/Content/Detail.asp?ReleaseID=4331&NewsAreaID=2

Great, now it is clear that PAL users get even less value for their money than other territories: we pay the same and get WAY worse backward-compatibility… wow…

    Comment by Panajev — February 23, 2007 @ 6:25 pm

  38. I am looking forward to the PS3, but not and this price and the piss poor quality of the launch titles and the lack of numbers, what about 20 titles with about very little exclusives. I will wait for the next batch to hit the shores I think.
And before anyone asks, yes I do have a 360, a PS2 etc, but I am a gamer, I can’t wait for my PS3 but not yet. At the moment the Xbox rocks over the PS3 apart from the HD-DVD vs Bluray. HD-DVD is going to splat real soon against Bluray, no major studios support it. I have a major DVD collection most HD-DVD titles I already have on DVD. All the new releases are coming on Bluray.

  39. Well as from this morning there will be an extra 2 consoles up for pre order at Game.co.uk ive just cancelled and so has my brother ive had it with the way europe are treated by sony.Cya all

    Comment by John — February 26, 2007 @ 3:10 pm

  40. I’m confused - if the pre-orders are soooooooooooo amazing. how come every single one of the major retailer still have stock available?

Hell, Play.com (who aren’t fibbing at all about the level of pre-sales) keep adding more ‘free’ stuff to thier bundles in an effort to shift them - first a HDMI cable, now a Click Blue-Ray

Hmmmmmm I wonder what the chances were of getting a Wii or a 360 over a week after pre-order started………..
