Thanks for the responses showing an interest in attending the next Three Speech event over at PS3’s 3Rooms venue in east London on March 13. Here’s a final call out for anyone who’d like to be considered. Should be plenty of post-GDC topics and news to discuss.

xbox360 at least released teir console on right time so devolper get teir hends on michine to devolpe good title for 360 like gears of war and forth commimg best tile HALO3 now sony ps3 have good title on it as well the problem is that the developer did not get enough time to develope ps3 games because ideot like phill harrison who decide to take control and change the specfectionof p3 PAL console.because of this emtion chip removel from ps3 Pal uk michine teir will more problem ahead downloading patches would not solve the problem sony need to leave emotion chip back in Pal michine in regarding to solve the problem. As i can see the only problem sony and phill harrison got is cost of developing ps3 most of the componint for ps3 still expinsive so phill harrison decided to save money/cost on ps3 and decided to take omition chip out of ps3 PAL.only way is not to buy ps3 PAL UK.only buy us ps3 because emotion chip is there to take adavantge of and uk fans can play not only PAL PS3 games also in future you can play blueray dvd region free on us michine. So i say it’s time for uk fans to take their refund on the ps3 michine they preorder. So sony should not change the spectaion of uk ps3 PAL. As uk fans are paying more money then us and japanises market. its time for uk fans to stand toghter and not to buy any ps3 PAL michines till sony and phill harrison fix this emtion chip engine back in ps3 PAL machines. or if not then sony should reduce the price of ps3 PAL.

Firstly apologies to Three Speech for going off topic, but this needs to be addressed:
Have to agree with Superman, ‘Ryu Hamishae’, you negative statement, and utter lack of knowledge of the English language makes your statement a moot one.
I don’t like Sony either, but that doesn’t make me a gibberish spouting fan-boy who feels the need to force his opinion to anyone who likes their system!
Look to the right hand side of the page. “We bring together people who have something valid and engaging to say about gaming and digital entertainment.” Can you see that? Can you even read that? It says ‘valid’, ‘engaging’.
Sorry about that Three Speech (not entirely sure how to address the ‘moderators’ of the site).
To answer your post, is there any chance of an Irish event? The last Playstation related event I went to was Playstation Experience a few years ago.

The addition of 1080i may appear to help users with 1080i-only TVs, but what the update doesn’t do is force the console to upscale lower-resolution content to the preferred maximum. So if you have a game that insists upon 720p, it will still reject the 1080i setting and default to the crude 480p resolution, gamers who’ve applied the patch report.
Meanwhile, the update does provide a backup tool for the console’s hard drive. It also adds support for Sony’s upcoming Blu-ray Disc remote control and for some PS2 peripherals to allow them to work with PS2 games running on the new machine.
The patch also allows users to select the kind of video signal sent via the PS3’s HDMI port: RGB or component-video, or let the PS3 choose.
Firmware 1.3 can be downloaded to a PC and transferred to the PS3 via a USB disk, or downloaded directly using the console’s System Update software.

Sony has yet to lend its voice to the argument, but independent commentators have claimed the consumer electronics giant sold just shy of 90,000 PlayStation 3 consoles this past weekend. Sony did admit that not all PSOne and PS2 games run on the new machine. Whoops.
Of course, not all Xbox games run on the Xbox 360, but while Microsoft decided to implement backwards compatibility through software, using an emulator, Sony took the more costly approach of incorporating the PS2’s EE+GS chip and other components.
Which is why the company’s admission that around 200 old games won’t run properly on the PS3 may prove a blow. Some don’t run at all, others work but without some audio functionality, according to Reuters. But plenty more will work just fine, so it’s questionable just how much of a problem this is for Sony.
Indeed, how important is backwards compatibility at all? Hardcore console gamers tend to be happy having multiple machines spread around their TV.
Meanwhile, according to Japanese magazine publisher Enterbrain, Sony sold 88,400 PS3s on Saturday and Sunday - less than the 100,000 the manufacturer said it would ship in Japan for the launch but more than the 80,000 Japanese newspaper Nikkei Keizai Shimbun had
Either way, there’s no doubt demand is there for the new console.
Enterbrain claimed around 62 per cent of PS3s purchased were the more expensive, 60GB model, and that Namco Bandai’s Ridge Racer 7 and Mobile Suit Gundam: Target in Sight topped the PS3 sales chart with sales of around 30,000 each.

sony have made it clear that the European version of the Playstation 3 console will play fewer PS2 titles that than the North American and Japanese versions.
A spokesperson for Sony said, “Backwards compatibility is not going to be as good as the U.S. and Japan models.” In terms of figures, we have no idea what this actually means!
“Rather than concentrate on PS2 backwards compatibility, in the future, company resources will be increasingly focused on developing new games and entertainment features exclusively for PS3.”
Around the time of Sony’s first announcement of this function, the estimate for the amount of backwards compatible games to have passed this criteria was approximately 50-85%, but at E3 last year Sony changed their tact by informing us that the PS3 would be 100% backwards compatible - IGN reported this news straight from the PS3 conference.
Back in October, Sony changed their minds again whilst speaking to IDG News service, when Reiko Sakamoto said, “It’s hard to say the PlayStation 3 will be 100 per cent backwards compatible. But as we said earlier this year, we aim to make it so as much as possible.”
It’s crucial that Sony succeed in making the PS3 compatible, not only to keep the millions of PS2 fans happy, but also to gain the edge over Microsoft, who notoriously didn’t deliver as promised on backwards compatibility with the Xbox 360.
Despite gamers complaining about lack of backwards compatibility on both the Xbox 360 and now the PS3, research actually shows that few old games ever get played on new machines.
Whatever the case, we’d still like to know why European PS3s won’t have the same backwards compatibility as other regions, after all we’ll be paying more than any other region for less functionality. Nice work, any chance of knocking a few quid off?
