Pete Cullen, you mention Home in 1080p, was this confirmed or just an assumption? Thanks.
Comment by Wollan — Mar 14, 2007 @ 1:46 pm
yey update is coming before march.23rd. You guys couldnt ask about the 1080i only tvs, ingame soundtracks and bluray discs at 720p tho??
Comment by koolie — Mar 14, 2007 @ 1:49 pm
Wollan, I commented on the blog that the TV flicked a couple of times on Home and it displayed 1080P as the input.

Thanks very much Three Speech, it was a wicked event. I’ll do a full write up on gamesey and then post a link. O and Home was definitely running in 1080p.

Thanks again for being great hosts, especially (please correct me if the name’s wrong) Jonathan from SCEE for presenting the XMB demo and answering as many questions as he could.
Here’s a few of my highlights:
• A ‘higher resolution’ PLAYSTATION 3 camera will be released later this year.
• Home looks very nice indeed running in 1080p native res. I preferred the darker environments like the Theater and Hall of Fame, the lighting seemed less flat, more moody than the main lobby.
• Seeing six and a half moving video thumbnails playback perfectly smoothly, and the list of thumbnails scroll smoothly whilst doing so - at 1080p in the XMB - was quite a sight.
• I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I picked up the tilt control for flOw. Super Rub-a-Dub’s tilt seemed to be tuned to give a more watery resistance to the duck’s movement which wasn’t so easy to quickly adjust to.
• Its been a long time since I’ve played Gran Turismo 4 but the default driving assist settings in GT HD made for an easy entry back into the driving seat. It didn’t feel too uninvolved like a lot of other racers with all the assists on.
• I’m rubbish at F1 games and MotorStorm’s a lot harder than it looks! Perhaps bikes aren’t best for beginners.
I forgot to ask about the PlayStation Experience, will it return when there’s a wider range of PS3 games? Time will tell.

It was a fantastic night! With guests and staff in high spirits. Playstation Home looked lovely on the big screen and I think it was obvious to everyone watching that there is so much potential in the service.
Resistance onscreen 4 person multiplayer looked fun. Although I never got the chance to play. Online play is great, but sometimes friends do get together in the same room so nice to see this feature.
thanks ThreeSpeech.
Everyone please feel welcome to read my rundown on the night at www.playthree.net

Yup, the Resistance setup which also seemed to have the Ridge Racer 7 demo was in high demand so I didn’t try that but in a week it should be ours to play as and when we like!
Great looking fire in that game

If anyone’s interested in Blu-ray movies after the 3Rooms Casino Royale demo (second demo without Phil for those of you that didn’t stay) I’d recommend checking http://www.blu-ray.com/ (unofficial) which has factual information linked to from the front page and a forum with the latest news.
Blu-ray releases should start picking up here with the PS3’s release as finally there will be a large pool of people to sell to!

I went to hmv first in oxford street before virgin on the same rd but 1st of all hmv have set up a little corner right next to the 2 360’s stands for the ps3 in a c-thru casing with a sofa and two bolted down pads *just an expression* the stand for the ps3 is all right.
2nd i went to the virginmegastore *main one* they cordened of a whole room for the official launch of the ps3 which i managed to sneak into before getting caught.
This is what i saw you walk down a narrow corridor passage and as your walking down this there are big statues of
1.Solid Snake
2.Lara Croft and i think a ff character.
When you get to the room there is a big fat juicy sony bravia screen up on the wall beneath that a hand crafted casing *better than hmv’s casing* this time for the ps3.
A big black Sofa and some wireless controllers on a black coffee table *which i could have nicked but god would punish me by letting me get robbed on launch day when i go to pick mine up*.
*you wouldnt want that to happen now would you coz then there would be no-one to spray your ass full of bullets on resistance then would there* hehehe lol
Anyways the room is well kitted for a launch and much much much bigger than hmv’s small corner.
One * or two * final things i talked to a member of staff and he said you dont need a pre-order to get in the store *unlike other companys i will not mention for fear of being sued* on launch night just be there early to get in and get some stuff and accessories.
And
Will any of you lot go to the launch?
coz i will hope to see you guys there if you can make it. SPITZ OUT
