SCE COLLECT THREE MAJOR HONOURS AT DEVELOPER INDUSTRY EXCELLENCE AWARDS

Sony Computer Entertainment collect three major honours at the Developer Industry Excellence Awards, including the coveted ‘Grand Prix Award’.

On the evening of Wednesday July 25th, at the Develop Industry Excellence Awards, hosted in the UK by Develop magazine, and attended by 500 game development industry professionals, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) collected three major honours.

SCE and our partner studios were nominated in a number of categories, and were proud to win the following awards, for our software titles.

- Best New Console/PC IP - Motorstorm (PS3)
- Best use of Audio - FreeStyle Games, for BBoy on PSP/PS2

The final award of the evening was the ‘Grand Prix Award’ - awarded solely by the judging panel without any advance nominations, it recognises overall excellence in creativity, technology or business development, within the gaming industry.


Commenting on why SCE were chosen, Michael French (Editor - Develop Magazine) said:

“We have chosen Sony Computer Entertainment for this award because the company continues to push and inspire the global games development community, in a creative, commercial and technological manner. In the past 12 months, SCE has introduced a new cutting-edge hardware platform in the form of the PlayStation 3, as well as fostering the development of quality software titles across all PlayStation formats, via its internal studios and external partners.”

Speaking at the event and collecting the ‘Grand Prix Award’ on behalf of SCE, Phil Harrison (President - Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios) said:

“I’m delighted that Sony Computer Entertainment has been honoured with this award… and am proud to accept it on behalf of the entire company, not just Worldwide Studios. It’s recognition for our dedication to excellence in all aspects of the creativity, technology and business of making games.”
