“SingStar for the PS3 is on its way. As soon as its release date is confirmed, you’ll read it here first.”
We reckon it’ll be out sometime in October.

Thats just not a good enough answer. We all know its on its way, and Im sure im not the only one getting annoyed with the secrecy. Whats the point?
I was planning on buying SingStar before the release was pushed back to August. But ive got money in my pocket (not much, but enough) and im not willing to wait any longer for what is basically SingStar HD with optional extras at a cost.
Ghost Recon 2 here I come! My mate has it on XBox and its awesome, imagine how great its gonna be on PS3!
Comment by Andrew — Aug 17, 2007 @ 10:59 am
Hmm, it’s all very confusing. The Sony site still says August. Can you ask them when the new PSP is coming out in the UK too please? They seem to have gone quiet on that too!
Comment by Jeebers — Aug 17, 2007 @ 11:02 am
Pre-ordered this in May when it was stated as a July 24th release, just in time for my daughters birthday. was informed by amazon on the 28th July that it was put back to Aug 24th now gonna be Oct. Bad show SCEE. YOU’VE GOT TO STOP PISSING PEOPLE ABOUT. The phraze “don’t know their arses from their elbows” springs to mind. I’m gonna have to buy her another effin present now and she resents every second I spend on my Ps3. Thanks

Damn you guys are good
Thanks.
October - That’s such a shame. Good to hear something though - the radar has been so quiet.

A definative answer please threespeech, this title has just kept slipping down the release schedule since it was touted as a launch game in March!! they churn these titles out for the PS2 so are clearly having problems setting up the DLC for the new game! Some actual info as to why it’s delayed would be nice!
Comment by bmaindj — Aug 17, 2007 @ 11:55 am
Kotaku reported a while a go, it was scheduled for release in the US on November 13th.
If we are going with the concept that, as usual, the US gets the red carpet treatment and we (UK) get the leftovers (despite it being a massive EURO game)…I think Christmas time is a more likely release date, especially as they have only announced half the songs it ships with and Christmas is a big Crunch time for the PS3, having Singstar as a big party christmas game will ship ALOT of units for that period.
Comment by designerheadache — Aug 17, 2007 @ 1:09 pm
You never know, Sony may announce release plans for it next week, at Leipzig Games Convention? After all, it is a big property of theirs.
I have no issue with that statement. It seems pretty matter-of-fact to me. I’d think that Singstar would be a big thing for Holiday, 07; so maybe they don’t want to release it TOO far in advance of the time it’ll have the biggest resonance and impact?
Comment by GleeDemon — Aug 17, 2007 @ 1:12 pm
Wasn’t this originally slated to be a UK launch title?
Why does this keep slipping?
What are they doing to it?
Singstar is hardly the most complex game compared to other PS3 titles.
All they’re doing is porting it from the PS2 to the PS3 and adding downloadable tracks and online scoreboards. Should it really take this long?
I expect the excuse will revolve around getting licensing for tracks to put online… We don’t need 50,000 tracks downloadable on release day - we won’t have time to sing them. We’ll be happy with a steady stream.
Comment by Neil — Aug 17, 2007 @ 1:18 pm
@GleeDemon
Fair enough, but why the slippage on original dates submitted by Sony, why not just announce a December release. This has just pissed people off.

Perhaps there waiting for Sonys inevetible music/movie store?
Comment by Wisdom Wanderer — Aug 17, 2007 @ 1:52 pm
Listen Threespeech,
Im getting sick and tired of waiting. Waitng, waiting, waiting. We waited 6 months for the Z0MG SUPER C00L console, then its been around 5 months, and still no in-game XMB. We barely have any games, so the ones we do let us enjoy them with music and messaging!!!!!
Im getting so sick of this BEAST. What happend to the CELL processor being able to handle multitasking? The god dam thing has 8 processors, and Sony had 18 months, but still couldn’t get a feature Microsoft had at launch. THis is soooo pathetic!!!!!
Comment by Chris — Aug 17, 2007 @ 2:08 pm
@designerheadache - they’ve announced all the songs that are shipping on the disc. Plus all the ones from the PS2 versions will be downloadable at launch.
Based on what they were saying on their official blog over at IGN, the game is finished now. I reckon this is purely a marketing decision to make Singstar part of their holiday sales push and try and convince more people to get hold of the PS3. If that’s the case then there may well be a price cut coming soon as part of the enticement (£425 is still way too much to appeal to the mass market Singstar consumer).
Comment by Tricky — Aug 17, 2007 @ 3:14 pm
I for one am sick of waiting for this title, which |I have had on order for months at Amazon. When (if) it is ever released, it has lost it’s shine now for me. Instead of being excited, i’m now just pi**ed off, as are my kids. I’ll keep my cash, and send 2 fingers to SCEE. I feel cheated out of £425, since there is nothing on PSN (and when there is it doesn’t work - Spyro2) and releases keep being delayed. I’ll probably be notified next week that my PS3 is to be recalled because it was painted with lead paint in China……
Comment by Peter Benson — Aug 17, 2007 @ 3:46 pm
Its all down to the wireless mic’s, there are problems with the bluetooth connection with 2 mic’s at the same time. This will be fixed by NOV, so i guess Sony don’t want to ship a half finished product.
Comment by Katana — Aug 17, 2007 @ 4:10 pm
VERY disappointing the whole SingStar release date thing. If only SCEE would release more information I think people would cut them a little more slack and wait a little longer.
Comment by appmacguy — Aug 17, 2007 @ 4:31 pm
If they don’t announce a date, people moan. If they do announce a date and it gets delayed, people moan. Thats why you never get release dates, nobody to blame but yourselves.
Comment by Tom Eccles — Aug 18, 2007 @ 12:23 am
ive arranged a huge PS3 singstar event aug 31st, just found out the game is been delayed AGAIN!!
Ive just boxed up the ps3 and swopping down game for a 360….I suggest everyone do the same! also getting tired of the sub standard ports aswell. looks like sony have finally lost it!
Comment by novablue — Aug 18, 2007 @ 8:58 am
Het guys, just downloaded Dirt demo from US PSN.
It’s not that bad but why do they have it and we get shitty Amoured core??????
Comment by Daniel — Aug 18, 2007 @ 9:05 am
Because we’re good old fu***** europe. We pay the most and become all things at least.
Comment by crank79 — Aug 18, 2007 @ 5:02 pm
I was looking forward to getting SingStar PS3 in july, then i august, and now it’s pushed back to oktober?
Getting tired of waiting too, Motorstorm is awesome, and I play Super Stardust HD a lot too, but apart from that there’s really not much to yell about.
Nothing has even come close to Motorstorm and Resistance after the launch in march.
Good games please soon?
Comment by Coyote — Aug 18, 2007 @ 11:35 pm
The game’s done, but there’s apparently some legal issues with the songs and downloading and red tape stuff like that, which is a bit surprising considering how long SCEE has been doing this SingStar stuff.
Comment by RiotPelaaja — Aug 19, 2007 @ 1:23 pm
Dissappointing especially for those that bought the console for 600€ at release thinking they would atleast get some good promised games until the first packs and price cuts come.
Well you cant even sell the console again for a good price, as nobody buys it now.
I am really annoyed. The PS3 wasnt worth the money until now. I’d say, I would better have waited till Chrismas 2008 ….
Comment by bsk — Aug 20, 2007 @ 10:41 am
@Katana: Microphones?
They’ve always said, mentioned in various blogs over the months, that they are not looking to release new hardware with the PS3 game launch. The last comment I remember on the subject was along the lines of ‘nothing for launch but we’re assessing the possibility of some new mics for later in the year’.
Now if they’ve changed their mind and decided to hold back the game until they can sort out Bluetooth mics then that is really stupid and annoying.
@tricky: ‘Plus all the ones from the PS2 versions will be downloadable at launch’
Great, do I get to download them for free after I register the disc in the machine? Or can it ‘rip’ the tracks off the discs?
Comment by Neil — Aug 20, 2007 @ 12:28 pm
@ 24 thats something i deff hope for
since i already spend a big amount on the original Singstar,
the least they coud do is build a rip function in,to allow the ps2 owners also to use the cd’s they purchased instead of rebuying them or disc-swapping,if i wanted disc-swapping i would have bought a xbox
Comment by Darkie — Aug 20, 2007 @ 5:53 pm
at all: why didn’t we hear the official price yet of which the songs a piece are costing while downloading/purchasing….
or aren’t there any technical difficulties but only financial ones
Comment by Darkie — Aug 21, 2007 @ 10:23 am
@neil - nope, if you want to download the songs from the original Singstar PS2 discs then you’ll need to pay for them. Sony are sticking by their guns saying that if you already have the PS2 Singstar discs then you can play them on the PS3 anyway…
Plus, I suppose the music videos will be upgraded to HD.
As for why we haven’t heard an official price for the downloadable songs yet, I suspect that could also be part of the reason for the delay. The music companies could well be attempting to charge more than Sony want so some negotiating may well be in order.
Personally, if it’s going to cost more than £1.50 a song then I’d be very tempted to tell them to stick it and I’d prefer it to be closer to £1. For £20 you can get a PS2 Singstar disc with 30 songs on it. That’s 66p per song if you take the simple maths route. Now obviously they’ve got to fork out for server costs for supplying all these downloads to us, but even so, that shouldn’t mean that they’re going to charge the earth for them.
Some kind of confirmation from the marketing team would be great, but if the game really isn’t going to hit until October then I suspect we’ll be waiting until the end of September before we hear anything concrete on pricing.
Comment by Tricky — Aug 21, 2007 @ 2:17 pm
Well the official release calendar STILL has it slated for August release, Until yesterday amazon still had it down for Aug 24th but now has it as September 28th.
So Who is to be beleived?
My Money says we will not get it in August which Sucks, as My wife & Kids were looking forward to this- And I got the $$ burning a hole in my pocket for this and GRAW2.
http://uk.playstation.com/games-media/release-calendar/
Comment by yamster32 — Aug 21, 2007 @ 5:07 pm
@tricky: Thanks for the confirmation, that sucks.
If they have the same tracks available for download they could at least do some sort of offer for people who already have the old games. Like ‘bring your games to a game shop (for proof) and get a credit voucher to use on the SingStore’. Or even trade in.
I’d even put the discs in the post.
Swapping discs is just not on. Not only do you lose out on the integration - whilst flipping through your songs you realise it’s on a disc and have to reboot - but also there’s no online scoring/videos/whatever else they’re going to do for those songs.
I highly doubt they’d bother to do a highscore importer from PS2 savegames.
-
Still seen nothing to explain why the release date keeps slipping.
Unless it’s to do with negotiating songs and prices, but then you’d have thought they’d have done that as one of the first ‘business case’ steps after conceiving the whole SingStore idea…
Comment by Neil — Aug 22, 2007 @ 2:31 pm
Gamekult.com published a video today, they have the official Singstar PS3 french version on their hands, and they shown the complete french playlist + all the menus and the new mic on the video. So the game is ready and the wireless mic are working… Why waiting october ??
Comment by Jenny — Sep 23, 2007 @ 2:03 pm
My friend was doing promo work for singstar and was playing the game for a whole day in London, she cannot believe that it has not been released yet, as there did not appear to be any bugs. I just wish someone could give us an honest idea of when the game will be released. If they dont know, maybe after months of waiting we could find out why??
If you hadnt guessed Im beginning to feel a little desperate, Ive had this on pre-order since May/June and I told believe any of the stated release dates….especially the official site which has constantly had the release date scheduled for a date in the past (currently set to June -Sept release)
