As discovered by a user on the PlayStation Forums then reported by other gaming sites, L.A.I.R. is the first PS3 title to be compatible with Remote Play on the PSP. We’ve tried it with our preview copy of L.A.I.R. and can confirm that it does work.
It’s a pretty big development and a video has sprung up on YouTube to confirm that it does work. Check it out.

shame the games got an absolute pasting!

I read about this earlier, looks great but doesn’t the lack of L2/R2 buttons cause problems?
Nice idea though, I’d hand over a kidney if they could get Super Stardust HD to do it as well.

So what? If the game is crap……
Hype overload again
Comment by DaveTheRave — Sep 3, 2007 @ 1:52 pm
Yeah, if PSN titles could be compatible with remote play that would be awesome.
Comment by Benny — Sep 3, 2007 @ 1:53 pm
Pretty mental - It’s a nice touch.
Can’t imagine it being much good over long distances without an insanely fast upload speed on your BB connection at both ends though…
Super Stardust would be ace to play in bed on a sunday morning via Remote Play though.

Super Stardust HD playable on a PSP? Please don’t… I’d never get any work done, as I’d constantly be out to beat my (lowly) score.
But if LAIR is playable this way, kudos to them. As ThreeSpeech have said, it’s a big development (for a little machine!). Would definitely be fun to try it.

Most interesting thing about this? The game has had awful, awful reviews because of the duff control scheme. Clearly, the PSP version uses the analogue nub. It might, therefore, be the superior version. With any luck Factor 5/Sony will see sense and patch the PS3 version. I preordered it (from the US) and it was dispatched before I saw the reviews, more’s the pity….

SUUUUWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

@5 - It’s not so much Lair that I’m interested in (although I’ll like to try it first before giving it a kicking) but the remote play aspect.
Remote Play + SSHD = Awesome

Ok, just to tell you people. I bought the game, and the controls far from suck……. if you like Warhawk via motion sensor you’ll love lair (it’s better) and yes it’s very responsive *it’s about 55% sensitivity setting on motion sensor on Warhawk*

@12 How did you buy the game? it doesn’t even come out until tomorrow. I respect your defense for the game and i am definately getting the game because i am a PS3 Fan and proud to admit it but try to make your comments more believable that way your defense can’t be argued with so easily. Not bashing or anything, just giving advice from one fan to another.
Comment by Sean — Sep 3, 2007 @ 4:54 pm
@ Half_life… its not so much the sixaxis controls that are bad, its the targeting system and the combat with other dragons. I think the Warhawk motion sensing is better though.

Half_life000111 - how’s the game then? It’s been one that I’ve been looking forwards to only to be disappointed by some dreadful reviews
Comment by Obli — Sep 3, 2007 @ 4:59 pm
whatever … this is the game that has been getting the worst review arround for the next gen so far
Comment by kage — Sep 3, 2007 @ 5:03 pm
I was about to let this game pass even before the reviews as I am not such a dragon fan. Then the reviews added to my decision not to buy. However, the people that actually bought it started mentioning how good it actually was…to the point that I was re-considering buying it just to see what all the fuss was about. Then the remote play feature was discovered. Now I’m definately buying this game…dragons or no dragons… I absolutely need to see how this works for myself. Playing Lair from anywhere in my house! This is awesome! Problem now is that my wife has been hogging my PSP. Though I’ll now buy another PSP so that while she plays her puzzle games in bed at night, I’ll play LAIR!

well the game sucks, but this is a really cool addition. Im hoping its not the last of such things as maybe i will be tempted to get a PS3 if its not….

Ok, listen…….. before I bought Lair I dreaded the reviews, mainly IGN’s… but then I read the cutomer reviews and found everyone had said it was great. I took the risk and bought the game. THANK GOD I DID. The game is amazing, and I already beat it. Outstanding graphics that are something ps3 owners can brag about that really show ps3 power. Now for the controls, the oh so considered dreadfull controls, are just like warhawk if not better. Seriously, they are nothing to be conserned with. The tight and they work really well (I found myself getting more into the game then I would have with the analogs)…. also the controls are very responsive. The only issue period with them is the 180 degree turn (oh and just saying the controls work very well in the mist of war, there really is no hard turning around or taking forever to do something like some reviews have said), but sometimes you’ll dash rather then turn but this is easily fixed the second time you try, and it isn’t that bad at all. The targeting system is tight and right for the missions * the review for IGN must have been tapping L1 and R1 like crazy to target random things because if you head straight for your target, aim, and fire then it will hit exactly what you want… then you press L1 or R1 to target that object to stay locked…… Oh and the level with the Rhinos, you seriously have a problem if you have a hard time getting them off *it’s easy really easy. The music and soundtrack is astondingly beautifull and intense and well, the only flaw I found is once in a while during the cutscenes the camps will look like shit… otherwise better than Gears of War….. If you have any questions just ask, and if your unsure about the game rent it…. you’ll fall in love with it.

why on earth would you want to play a HD game on a small SD screen?! ok the novelty factor will ware off after 10secs. I really wish sony would get there arse in gear and do proper upgrades to the XMB and and help Devs out with development of new games which are desperately needed than wasting time on idotic and pointless things like this.
Comment by The Amazing Kazoo — Sep 6, 2007 @ 12:20 am
after seeing the flak that LAIR took decided to rent the game instead of going out and purchasing it immediately as I had previously planned to do. I am glad I did. It’s not so much that the motion controls are bad (which they are good when they actually register), but the frame rate I don’t think ever stops degrading. It’s one of the worst frame rates I’ve ever seen. Sony, you should have delayed the game again for the love of dragons. I have never seen a game that looks so incredible and exciting and yet it is just about unplayable because of the frame rate and extremely spotty motion controls. I am not against motion controls, if they work I would probably be more for it than not, but if they are going to be this shoddy then why not give us an option? If you guys fix the game’s frame rate and controls, you would have a winner and I will purchase the game immediately, but as it stands I took it back to the video store before it was due back.
