Featuring a selection of the best tracks from previous Wipeout games, the next addition to the series, Wipeout HD, will be available from the PlayStation Store and will run at 60 frames per second at full 1080p resolution. We’ve got our hands on some more information about the upcoming game, as well as five new screenshots.
* SIXAXIS support: use the motion sensitivity to control your anti gravity ship.
* Tracks: a selection of the most popular tracks from previous Wipeout games.
* Mag-Strips: the game will include the new feature from Wipeout Pulse (PSP) which temporarily causes your ship to be locked onto the track surface.
* Race Modes: there will be seven race modes - Single Race, Tournament, Time Trial, Speed Lap, Zone Mode, Elimination and Head-2-Head.
* Race Campaign: featuring a set of pre-defined race events for the player to battle through.
* New Weapons: The Repulser, Shuriken and and Leach Beam.
* Photo Mode: much like GT5 Prologue and Wipeout Pulse, you’ll be able to take screenshots in game and save them to your PS3’s hard drive.
* Online Multi-player: up to 8 players online, with the option of a “Team vs Team” mode.
* Community: a purpose built website where players build profiles containing stats, to compare with friends.
* Downloadable Content: the game will be expanded via downloadable packs on the PSN.

Awesome features! Nice one!
Great screens - they seem a bit contorted though - like the were widescreen but have been forced 4:3 ?

Great game, i like the way the hud wraps around the screen as if i am looking through a helmet, kind of like Metriod Prime….. another great game to add to the PS3 HDD collection.

Think it was a track called Porta Kora or something from Wipeout 3, it was based around a dockland area. I really hope they redo that track - as I can beat anyone round it lol!

Just tell me when and I’ll be there. Haven’t played Pulse yet but Pure is still my favourite game on the PSP, it blows me away that it runs on a handheld. The thought of Wipeout in HD and through my sound system is one of the reasons I bought a PS3.

Is there any news on the proper new Wipeout PS3?
Comment by Terry — Sep 26, 2007 @ 1:31 pm
Remember we want it at THE SAME TIME AS THE USA AND JAPAN (or before them which would be preferable) NOT A DAY LATER

its already out on PC and 360 so wtf it needs to be ready for? We need this demo!!!!
Comment by Fag — Sep 26, 2007 @ 4:34 pm
Look, I’m not getting into a debate on this but you’ve answered your own question. The PC & 360 versions are ready, the PS3 version is obviously not.
I’m sure threespeech or some other gaming website will let you know when it’ll be on the store.

What? No lame comment about the Euro PSN store on this thread?
Are you finally growing up…?

The team vs team online option sounds interesting, looking forward to this.
And it looks so pretty…

When can we expect Wipeout HD on the PS Store and how much is it going to cost?

Fair point, in a moment of weakness I took the bait.
Can’t wait for this though - or should that be ‘I can wait for this!’
I’ve not played Wipeout since 2097 so hoping for some sort of custom soundtrack option. Wipeout without Future Sound of London doesn’t bare thinking about it!
Comment by mrsatansdojo — Sep 27, 2007 @ 2:51 pm
Sweet, love the Wipeout series, the community website would be awesome, but if Warhawk is any inidcation I’ll wait and see if we actually get it or if it will be a mess of a flash site?
Comment by zer0her0 — Sep 28, 2007 @ 3:18 pm
PLEASE… Mr Sony… let the SixAxis support be optional.
