You may have read the latest post on the official Playstation blog – Naughty Dog Co-President Evan Wells detailed the progress on Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. The main thing - it’s nearly finished. What you might not have noticed is the string of comments following the post from Evan Wells replying to readers questions. Hit the jump for the low down on the new information we think will be of interest to you guys.
“Yes, we will be creating a downloadable demo for the PSN. We don’t have a final date on when it will be up, but it will be before our release date.”
“In regards to the UK release date, I believe its December 7th. We’re doing simultaneous localization in 13 languages (most, if not all, of which will be in the US version) and should be released in all territories within 3 weeks of each other. As for multiplayer, we opted to stick to making the most compelling single player game possible this time. But there is a lot of game there and some pretty good replay value with multiple difficulty levels, hidden treasures, medal points, and some really cool unlockables.”
“I wasn’t fully aware of how important it was for us to support 1080i. Up until earlier today we were only supporting 720p (and SD of course) but reading through these comments, it was brought to my attention the number of people who had HDTV’s but would not be able to experience Uncharted in high-def. So we immediately went to work and I’m pleased to announce here, for the first time, that we have now implemented 1080 support!”
“And yes, our game runs at 30FPS.”
It’s great to see a developer talking to their fans and seeing results don’t you think? You can read our hands on impressions of the game here.

1080i support = fantastic.
Can’t wait for this game!

Sorry for the tangent in posts - regarding a previous thread i had posted about the bungie/microsoft split -
It’s official - Bungie is now an independant company again.
Bring on Cortana Go Karts 12!

@ Chris - the problem with 1080p is that it puts a big strain on the processor, resulting in framerate drops etc.
You’ll probably see more full 1080p games once developers have had more experience with the system.

What the f**k?! Why dont we get the game at THE SAME TIME AS THE US? This is jsut stupid, someone at sony europe need to be fired NOW.
Why do we have to wait until December when it get release in November with ALL the lanuages ALREADY on the disk?

@ carl - I can only assume that it’s to due with simple logistics. Manufacturing enough discs to feed the entire PS3 community in one go would be stretching the production lines.

one would think…
but if that were the case, how did halo pull off 1.5 mil?
Comment by Matt — Oct 5, 2007 @ 9:25 pm
when can we expect the demo,
or is it like Assassins Creed also Cancelled
Comment by Darkie — Oct 6, 2007 @ 12:12 am
“We don’t have a final date on when it will be up, but it will be before our release date” meaning 6th december is also before the release date,
but then again 2 monhts waiting for a finished product is delaystations policy for everything
where is Singstar?
where is vegas poker (PSN)?
where is Home?
Comment by Darkie — Oct 6, 2007 @ 12:14 am
Its a single player only game…. so with that in mind, why don’t UK gamers just import the US version of the game when it is released, if they want it sooner. You wont have any issues connecting to US servers, not UK servers as there is NO ONLINE.

Uncharted, Here I Come!

Yes, I think it’s great that the developers are taking our input and board and acting upon it! Thank you!

Nice to see ND support older hd-sets. The game is looking awesome, but I’ll pass: 110 bucks is out of my league. Same with R&C: Future, which is therefore also going off my list. Kind of like Sega DC. Shame, as I wanted to try them both at release. Guess I’m stuck with UT3! At least with Epic I know for sure I am getting an awesome experience at a great price and they don’t feel the need to milk their (european) fans which ultimately hurts the industry.

1080i has no effect on me. I’m still playing on a SDTV. T_T
Comment by Reza — Oct 7, 2007 @ 9:34 pm
@ Chris & Tom
From what I gather, if you’ve got a 1080p screen then you’ll probably get a decent result by playing at 720p and letting your TV handle the upscaling to 1080p in hardware. Takes the load off your PS3. Apparently.

Is this true 1080 support, or are they simply upscaling the 720 signal?
