I’m not holding my breath, to be honest. Tell your friends at Sony that I regret giving my money to them, their system is crappola, and I take any opportunity to tell people how dissapointing the lack of respect for UK customers is.
Comment by Peeved. — Oct 11, 2007 @ 4:32 pm
guys its “so far” apparently the RnC demo is due today theres been no mention about a PES PS3 demo at all - so dont be surprised that it doesnt appear today.
Ill be happy with the RnC demo to be honest, but it will be horrible if a PES 08 demo is not made available were all eager to get our hands on it

Comment by Peeved. — Oct 11, 2007 @ 4:46 pm
SCEE should stop the “weekly” psn updates and start monthly updates - then it wouldnt look as poor as it does.

Playable demo is STUNTMAN: Ignition as the translated PAL version is available in the Australian store since last week…

I appreciate you (ThreeSpeech) getting info out as soon as you have it but I think when you are posting on the day of the update it might be better to wait until you had a full list. I’m guessing that you’ll have the full list soon anyway (one way or another the store usually updates about this time - right?), so posting a list with only a few trailers is almost inviting the whining to start early.
Let’s wait ’till we have the full list so we know if there is something to whine about

Can someone confirm this ?
Comment by Steven — Oct 11, 2007 @ 5:18 pm
@21. Just create another user on your XMB and when you sign up for the PSN state your country of origin as the U.S. This leaves your other account intact. Don’t bother doing the same for the Japanese store - their updates are worse than ours (really).
Comment by Mick — Oct 11, 2007 @ 5:19 pm
Twatty says, “I hope this isnt the full update. This is the worst thing ive ever seen.”
Oh, knock it off. We have seen tremendous acceleration in just a few weeks for PSN Network content, across the board. Playable demos at the same time or before other platforms, reasonably priced add-on content for popular titles, new original PSN Store downloadable games. If that’s all there is this week, so what? Sony are building out the Store in excellent fashion these days; and that’s not fanboy, that’s fact.
Comment by capa — Oct 11, 2007 @ 5:29 pm
Caveat for my comment #23: I *am* talking about the US Store, as I’m in the States. No commenting on EU Store as I’ve not been paying attention to what it’s getting.
Comment by capa — Oct 11, 2007 @ 5:31 pm
A *TRAILER* for Pixeljunk Racers? While the full game is available in the US and has been for weeks? Gee, thanks a fucking bunch, Sony. Hope you didn’t strain yourselves going to all that trouble.
The PS3 Store is the worst joke in the entire comedy fiasco that’s been the PAL PS3 story.
Comment by Spinky — Oct 11, 2007 @ 5:36 pm
I know it’s not the ‘full’ list yet, but you kind of think ‘why do I bother getting all worked up for a slim chance of something worth downloading each week’.
Europe always gets the sh***y end of the stick when it comes to PSN. Still here’s hoping the list improves.
Thanks for the info threespeech.

Probably worth pointing out that the two people referencing the lack of a R&C demo are both referring to the EU PSN Store.
The first fella mentions SCEE (Sony Compuer Entertainment Europe)
The second gives the price in £ (pounds sterling)
I believe the demo was only promised for the US store, so there’s still time yet. Plenty of EU players have US accounts already too *ahem*

PES2008 demo isn`t going to be released on the PSN because of the reception it had on PC and on the 360.
The demo is very old and probably Konami or Sony doesn`t want to give a bad impression about the game so no demo.
Everyday Shooter, Pyiotama, Tekken Online, Blast Factor, SPFHDR. All to be released on the European PSN, is it just because of localization?
Getting the R&C demo today was never expected, at least on the Euro PSN. The game is going to be released weeks later so we`ll get that demo weeks later but at least I was hoping for the Conan demo.
IT is imperative that Sony gives us feedback
Maguire, said that early adopters have the right to feel bad with the price-cut, but with more systems sold the better games we will see.
How about some respect for early adopters by giving assistance and regular content on the PSN.
Make the PSN a support for the buyer not a begging system.

On the US store:
New game titles and demos include Everyday Shooter, Ratchet and Clank Future: ToD Demo, NHL 2K8 Demo, and the Conan Demo.
New game videos include Uncharted Behind The Scenes II, Folklore Launch Trailer, Fallout 3 Teaser Trailer.
New movie trailers include The Assassination of Jesse James, Spiderwick Chronicles, Walk Hard.
New wallpapers include Ratchet and Clank Future: ToD and Everyday Shooter.
On our store? Some of the stuff the US store had last week!
Can I make a suggestion? I get the feeling that there is some red tape of some kind in Sony’s structure that means the US Store has to be the first store to get anything. That would be fine, if it weren’t for the fact that the time zones mean our update comes before the US one!
If SCEE changed their update date to say Friday would that give them anymore chance of getting the content at the same time as the US (time zone wise it would be the same day as the US update)? It just seems so silly to me that the EU store has to wait until the following Thursday to get the stuff the US had in the previous week!
I find myself constantly using my US account to get content because I don’t want to wait another week to get the latest demos, especially big-pivotal-to-the-future-success-of-the-PS3 titles like R&C:TOD, which will no doubt find it’s way across the pond for next Thursday!

i have owned every console and computer since the spectrum…including your psone and ps2 on first day of release…i’m 34 and have played games for over 20 years currently owning pc..ps3 360 ds psp.
the ps3 is by far the worst machine i have ever owned. period. i havnt bought a game since ps3 release day…whats the point everygame worth playing comes on 360 first has better graphics and runs better??? thats the truth and they know it. i thought things would get better with fifa being 60 frames etc…its a joke compared to the 360 version it doesnt look like the same game…jagged edges bad character models…jesus
and as for scee and their euro psn they need shooting for their lack of response/repsect for their loyal customers its a disgrace.

Food for thought on EU’s delays …
1. localisation - it isn’t trivial
2. ratings, laws - presumably games for sale require passing ratings boards, do demo’s? SCEE I think does most of the work for all of EMEA+ANZ (europe, midlle east, africa, australia, new zealand), so that’s an awful lot more crap to deal with than NA or Japan.
3. PAL/NTSC issues. Even with HDMI it still needs to support 50Hz PAL and 60Hz NTSC (even if 99% of euro tv’s support NTSC like they do in AUS?).
Seriously, do you think they’re just sitting around twiddling their thumbs in order to piss everyone off? Grow a brain people. You’ve obviously never worked on software or with logistics, or probably just never worked.
I’m also sick of all these idiots posting ‘give us more games, we want games’. You think they can just go and pick some AAA title off a tree or something? For f’ks sake. Software - any quality software - takes an extraordinary amount of time and money to produce.
Have some bloody patience, or go buy something else, just stop shitting on everyone’s blog.
Comment by MPZ — Oct 12, 2007 @ 1:50 am
MPZ,
I speck english so they dont need to translate it!
Ratch and clank demo ALREADY has been localised
PS3 is REGION FREE, eg 50 hz 60 hz thing is NOT A PROBLEM.
New Zealand things dont need to be rated, they go buy the pegi rateing which works for europe, only thing like R18 stuff needs to be rated.
Yes I do think they are sitting around doing nothing, because the New Zealand store is local eg they dont need all the lanuages for the NZ store. If they let us buy stuff off the US store I would stop complaning about the PSN instantly.
Also how long does to take to translate 10 words? As in the case of pixel junk races, or 0 words as in the Tekken online update or the blast factor update or the PS1 game.

I would be nice to get someone in from Sony to talk about these issues
From my part I am having trouble understanding the lag between US and EU release dates for games on PSN (eg Everyday shooter)
This lag does not happen with Xbox Live Aracade titles, so what is different about the PSN setup?
We can all speculate, but I would appreciate hearing a (semi) official response
Comment by Sean — Oct 12, 2007 @ 6:16 am
Okay, now I am not going to complain about our store update, I don’t think it is all that bad, I actually did quite want a demo of The Simpsons game, however, I do not fully understand how it is that the US store was given a Conan demo and we were not, even though the game is already out over here!!!
Comment by Mace — Oct 12, 2007 @ 8:04 am
Translation is NOT a difficult thing to do. It is NOT a valid excuse. I often translate Sony announcements from Japanese to English on ps3forums and it takes me MINUTES to do. I’m not even a professional translator. Most games contain less language-specific text than this!
AND: England speaks English. We should get the same content as the US.
Comment by zetsurin — Oct 12, 2007 @ 8:09 am
I used to like reading the articles and comments on this site but recently it just seems to have become a site where people moan about not getting a demo for PES 2008, get a f*ckin grip, it’s a demo. Why don’t you go outside and play for an hour children, before the sun goes down and it’s time for your bed. I bet these same people will buy the game regardless of a demo coming out or not so your moaning is pointless.
If there is one thing Brits are good at, it is moaning and complaining.
Why don’t the PES moaners get a life and do something else until the game is released. (Shuttin the f*ck up is my suggestion).
thanks, rant over.

I’m sorry, but I don’t see how localisation / translation is an issue. If that were the case, then the 360 wouldn’t get these demos before the PSN either..
Yet the Conan demo (like many others, PES included) is already available on LIVE. The latter being available for the last 3 weeks.
It’s not a PAL / NTSC issue.
Be nice to have an explanation.. Is just the problems the developers are having with the PS3?

I enjoyed this weeks update, but then I am an adult, work for a living and don’t get everything that I want as soon as I ask for it (If you catch my drift).

If anyone is a bit tired of feeling the sense of disppointment that comes from loading up the PlayStation store each week, waiting for games to come out after they are avaialble in other regions or on other formats, or tired of seeing them run in someway better on other formats, I have the complete and guaranteed solution for you. It might be a bit controversial, and it’s bound to cause uproar, but honestly, I’ve tried it, and it works. Go out and buy an Xbox 360.
Your life is too short and your time and energy to precious to spend it hoping or trying to tell Sony what frankly, they should already know and realise. They won’t listen to you. They won’t respond. They are already convinced that they know what they’re doing and that they know best. The ONLY thing that they will respond to (and not necessarily in the way you hope) is losing market share.
Comment by Greenman — Oct 12, 2007 @ 8:52 am
The UK is part of Europe, so we get stuff at the same time as Europe, deal with it. Besides English is not the same as American. They spell localisation with a ‘z’!
Does it really matter if we get stuff after the US? We always have done. It used to be the case that console games would be released here months after they were released in Japan and the US. Digital distribution cuts down that time a lot, but it still takes time.
@carl
“Also how long does to take to translate 10 words? As in the case of pixel junk races, or 0 words as in the Tekken online update or the blast factor update or the PS1 game.”
This just shows your poor understanding of what is involved.
I guarantee you that Pixel Junk Racers contains more than 10 words to be localised, and do you really think that the on-line update for Tekken won’t add any new text to the game? What about the word “Lobby” just for a start?!
And PS1 games are actually even harder, because they need to release the PAL versions of the games - US PS1 games won’t run on UK PS3’s and would be in NTSC. (Sony need to release PAL games, because there may still be people using their PS3s with PAL televisions)
So for PS1 games, they can’t re-use any of the work done in the US or Japan which is why we have less games, and often different games.
@Zetsurin
Translation may not be that difficult, but it’s not like they just need to open a text file and enter a load of translations into it.
A lot of the text will be incorporated into graphics - these graphics will need to be redrawn. Also, it’s possible that the game may have been developed without localisation in mind to get it out as quickly as possible in the US, so there may be development required to make multiple languages possible. Remember Capcom’s announcement that Puzzle Fighter would be delayed for localisation, but that all future titles wouldn’t be? I bet they are having to implement localisation in the game, but will be able to include the localisation in new titles as they are developed.

@54 - carl(not cut and paste carl) crawford … Er…. 15 x “WHERE is the ratchet and clank demo?”… So that’s not just one big Cut & Paste post then…
On to other matters. I am fed up with the whining and bitching, plain idiotic immature rudeness that appears on this site. You get FREE demos, videos etc. and ALL you do is complain. Not too long ago you were all bitching that the US store gets wallpapers, now you moan that you get wallpapers!
Yes, the store may not be as good as the US store but all of you seem to know that you can use an America account and download from that. I don’t, however. I’m not as small minded and pathetic as the vast number of you lot. If the demo comes out a week after in th UK, it doesn’t bother me.
I am extremely happy with the weekly updates - I’ll check them all out eventually and if there is a demo I really like I’ll consider the game. That’s happened last week with both Stuntman and Jericho. I had no pre-conceptions of these games and have decided to purchase both on the back of the demos. However, just because a game doesn’t appear on the PSN that I’ve put on my wish list it doesn’t mean I still won’t buy it. I never played ANY demos of games on PS2 or PS1 as I didn’t buy magazines for them and we certainly didn’t have the store, so ANY demo that appears on the PSN is a welcome bonus.
Why are you all so desperate for a demo such as ratchet & clank when the game isn’t released for another 3 1/2 weeks anyway? Back in the old days of the Amiga/ST wars, magazines would feature a demo for a game that was just out and after playing the demo, you’d then decide to go out and buy the game. And to me that works better. This is my opinion - and as I have to read through all yours I’m entitled to it - I don’t like playing through a demo and enjoying it and then having to wait weeks before I can play it again. I would rather pick up a demo one week, play it, and if i like it I would like the option to go out and buy the game that day or weekend, or wait until I can afford it. I’d be quite happy if the PSN store even had demos of older games that have been around a while on them so I could try them out and if I like them then I could go out and buy. But that would probably upset the masses that would be screaming “Oh we’ve had that for ages… give us something new.” (plus a few obligatory expletives of course…)
You need to grow up and realise that Sony and the PSN cannot please EVERYONE at all times. In the UK, demos all need to be rated fist before they can appear on the store and that takes time. And seeing as this is a FREE service not a paid service like the other console, Sony just cannot afford the resources and manpower to get stuff on there every day, and the logistics involved in getting new content on every store in every country would not make financial sense. The minute they’d start charging you for this service the barrage of complaints would be astronomic.
Rather than this appalling behaviour and language from some juvenile delinquents, why not actually be grateful for what you have got? All the time this sort of moaning and bitching carries on, you are probably making things worse. Why should Sony carry on with the store in the future for free if they just get slagged off every time they give you something for nothing? For what it is, this store is excellent and seeing as it’s not even a year old whereas the nearest competitor is 3 years old this month I think, what it has achieved in the months it has been around is amazing - in my opinion. And if something in the near future comes along (Home possibly?) and is far superior and we still don’t have to pay for it, then my hat will come off to Sony and I will salute them for this.

That’s such a pointless comment, mate.
People are just discussing the frustration of poor online support from Sony. I’m sure most on here work, and no-ones asking for “everything”.
But some decent content, on a machine that cost nearly double the price of it’s closet rival wouldn’t go amiss.
I don’t think asking for games such as ‘Puzzle Fighter’ & ‘Everyday Shooter’ is asking for everything.
People have paid a lot of their hard-earned (yes, from work!) cash for this console, and I think there’s a sense of dissapointment, and rightly so.
Anyway, enjoy your day at work, you high-flying exec

Do download demos have to rated? I thought only retail demos had to be rated as they were being ’sold’ to someone as part of a magazine deal?
How do Microsoft get the demos to all regions at once? Questions, questions. Perhaps TS should just run an article explaining the inner workings on what’s involved in something like this - so we can have a better understanding and thus alleviate some of the frustrations…?

Agree with your opening gambit there Chris. I remember in the SNES days, when I was desperate to play Street Fighter 2, but had to wait a good 6-8 months for the conversion as at 10-11 years old, I obviously couldn’t afford the £100+ it would have cost me to import from Japan.
Perhaps the younger posters on the site won’t have that experience, but I think that we’ve come a long way in a short space of time insofar as European release dates are concerned. Still some work to do mind, but we’re heading in the right direction.

Again, why so hostile?
People are just having a moan at poor service, and that’s a fact. It’s poor service.
Expectations aren’t through the roof, I think most would just like parity with the Xbox in what is, a key area! So no-ones even asking for exclusives, having demos first, the moon on a stick; Just parity!
Anyway, surely this is the place to moan? Don’t take it to heart, we’re talking about videogames..
Comment by GIANT ENEMY CRAB — Oct 12, 2007 @ 9:23 am
OK, the comments section is becoming ridiculous. To those people who use so much bad language in their comments - what do you think you are going to achieve? Nobody in their right mind is going to take any notice of you when you’re so rude. Please vent your frustrations somewhere else because some of us (myself included) are sick to death of seeing it on these pages. Some of the angry comments are even directed at Three Speech. Why on earth shoot the messengers? Three Speech are giving us the opportunity to be heard by Sony. Some of the comments we make are passed on to Sony. I have witnessed this first-hand at the 3Rooms event a few weeks ago. A spokesperson from Sony addressed our concerns about the shortcomings of the Euro PSN store.
We were told that Sony are working to improve the Euro store. They said the improvements would not happen overnight. Since then we’ve already seen improvements. There’s far less of a delay between updates to Europe, compared with those to the US store. We’ve even had some exclusives in Europe. Personally I’m happy with the way it’s progressing. If Sony keeps it up then before long the Euro store will be of the same high quality as the US store. Give them a chance.

#55…good excuses, but explain why Super Puzzle Fighter HD was localized and released in all territories on the 360, yet on PSN, the EU has to wait until November,
Comment by russ — Oct 12, 2007 @ 9:51 am
I have to say, this is just getting really boring. This joke’s getting old. The excuses don’t wash anymore. If we can’t have international content in Europe, then ALL platform holders should be substituting it with quality, in-house local content. Sony are asking people to buy into THIS, with their price drop/rebundling initiatives?
TO SIMPLY SAY THERE’S A DISCREPANCY IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. It isn’t good enough to continually rest on that fall-back. In the early days, it is perhaps more understandable. But if you pay more and receive less, disregarding tax entirely here, BECAUSE the issue is something which Sony does have control over - the content. They can provide more, and should to alleviate the shortfall.
Sometimes, it really is the thought that counts.
Comment by GleeDemon — Oct 12, 2007 @ 10:08 am
What I don’t get though, about all the regional autonomy that Kaz Hirai has instigated and overseen, is how we’re still playing pass the parcel with Store content, but are rarely fortunate. Maybe Sony should strive to create individual, catered lineups for each of the regions it sells to?
Probably not, because then, we’d be waiting longer on content deemed not to be relevant/or popular enough in a particular locale. It would be a return to the old days…I continue to hope that Home will render null the regions ALTOGETHER, for its part, but currently perhaps we have the best interim solution - as disappointing though the reality of it may be for some?
Comment by GleeDemon — Oct 12, 2007 @ 11:42 am
My points aren’t hostile. I cannot understand peoples’ anger and saying things like “it’s beyond a joke”. BTW I won’t make comments @ numbers anymore as the numbers appear to have gone all wrong…
Quote - “People are just having a moan at poor service, and that’s a fact. It’s poor service.”
It’s a free service!!! If we paid for it, then its more understandable. It’s not and we should be grateful there actually is a service in the first place. Personally I find it IS a very good service. Free demos and trailers downloadable every week adds to my enjoyment of this expensive console and it goes a long way to justifying my purchase as well as justifying my future games purchases.
Quote - “Expectations aren’t through the roof…”
First you say people are moaning at poor service but now you’re saying your expectations aren’t high… How does that work? Bit of a contradiction don’t you think?
The trouble is people want too much and want it all right now which is a completely bad, spoilt attitude and personally I cannot believe people don’t find more important things in life to be so upset about. It’s a sad state of society today. I am utterly appalled by the bitterness of some of these posts. Criticism and valid points are good and the whole point of this forum, but the sort of foul language being thrown around earlier in the posts is unacceptable - especially because the whole basis of their argument is because a certain demo that someone wanted isn’t on the store this week.
Quote - “I do not understand this free service arguement for demos!? The service is no different to Xbox LIVE SILVER (a free service..), although one is vastly superior to the other!”
One service is far older than the other. 3 times older in fact. In reality, the silver service is probably subsidised by the more expensive service. In three years time if the service on PSN doesn’t match the other service you mention, then you may have more justification to moan.
Comment by Dave Vincent — Oct 12, 2007 @ 12:02 pm

Comment by Insane_Rooster — Oct 12, 2007 @ 12:09 pm
“It’s a free service!!!”
It’s also a value-add on a device which is more expensive than the competition. So it’s essential they get it right.
And by the way, most people are irritated that they are denied access to the PAID content, making your point moot. Any monkey can and has by now created their US account but that will do nothing for Super Puzzle Fighter, Tekken Online and the like.

Oh yeah, brilliant. Let’s all just play demos and watch wallpapers on our PS3’s. Surely, that’s what we bought it for. Yeah, really solves the problem with all the paid content we can’t get. Just brilliant.
Comment by zetsurin — Oct 12, 2007 @ 3:24 pm
I have a US account that i use for demos etc but the impression I got was you can’t put credit card details on the US account unless its a US based credit card.
So great for downloading demos and wallpapers etc but crap for the games to buy (I WANT Everyday Shooter).
There should be a global store or if english speakers in America can buy a game (remember that America has more than English as well) then English speakers in EU should be able to buy the same game. Remember, a lot of our EU brothers are a touch more educated than those of us in UK & US who only speak English.
I’ve seen other comments here or elsewhere that people would get confused by a game title that has “Everyday Shooter (English, anglais, etc)”. That to me is an insult to the userbase.
Even a pop up asking (in the appropriate language based on country) “This download only has English & Spanish (or whatever) as a language option - do you want to continue?” would sort it.
Its not rocket science and in the meantime SCEE continues to look incompetent/unable to do their job.
Is this hostile? Of course it is, I’m mad as hell at being treated this way as a customer. I WANT to give you money Sony (on top of the “priviledge” of being an early adopter). Let me.

Having spent a good couple of hours on Friday night playing the demos from Thursday’s update, I would like to say that in my opinion this was a very good update. I thoroughly enjoyed The Simpsons Game demo and also the Tiger Woods demo. I will definitely be buying The Simpsons now.
Just because on one particular week the demo doesn’t arrive in the EU that is on another PSN store doesn’t mean that one can’t enjoy the content that is provided. I will now look forward again to next Thursday for the next downloads.
Thank you Sony and also thank you EA for providing the game demos. Perhaps the reason R&C isn’t on the EU store this week is down to Insomniac Games and not Sony who always take the brunt of peoples’ abuse….
Comment by Dave Vincent — Oct 13, 2007 @ 11:09 am
Ok, lets stop saying thank you for game demos.. They are infact commercials intended to sell a product not a “gift”..
But seriously lets get some feedback on why the games allways are late on the eu store. Lets have some honest to god explanations and reasons for why this is happening. Im sure that people would feel alot more content if they knew the good reason for this happening all the time.
Im not angry at SCEE im just tired of seeing good content going to other stores first.
Heres an idea. If the problem is localisation then release an english only version first and then the localised patch a week later. Everyone is happy that way. Its not so cool having to rely on updates from another continent to have some fun.
Thanks.

@132 The point is/was Localisation could be a problem:
AU store: Videoclips available, no need for translation
US store: Wallpapers available,no need for translation
US store: R&C demo available, and in All languages..
so the main problem is:
the People of SCEE as a bunch of lazy asses whom got payed by us through buying the Console,Games & TV
and they totally forgot they actually had to work for earning money…
Where is Home (or announcement/reason of dealy to spring 2008)
Where is Little Big Planet(or announcement/reason of dealy to spring 2008)
Where is Singstar (or Announcement/Reason of Undetermind Delay till Sint Jutemis…)
Where is Vegas poker,
where is Pixel racer
Where is WW 1 store.
Where is the actual value for our investment

While we are here,
Threespeech, we’ve asked week on week if you could get us a decent answer on what yourselves (SCEE’s voice in this matter) admit is the woeful situation of the EU store.
Again and again you’ve said you’ll find out.
Again and again we see nothing. Not a sausage of info on why we’re being treated like shit. Instead we get insulted at being “priviledged” to have paid more moeny for this so called service and nothing on why SCEE are so utterly useless at posting a file on a store page!
Seriously, if you guys were to find this out then you wouldn’t have to read our constant posts about this! It must get boring for you and think how much time you’ll save as well.
Then think of the future challenges when we find something new to bitch about! You’ll wake up and have a new day to look forward to, not a another dreary day of “WTF? Where’s Pixeljunk????”
So if you don’t do it for SCEE’s customers (some of whom’s money that was spent on being “priviledged” is paying your wages) then do it for yourselves!
