Playlogic today told MCV that they are starting work on a brand new IP for the PlayStation 3 at their Netherlands development house. They say it’s early in development, so don’t expect much soon, but its something to look out for in the future. They also expressed their hopes to step up their presence in the UK working along side SCEE.
Here’s what executive VP Rogier Smit told MCV earlier.
“A team at our in-house development studio called Playlogic Game Factory in Breda recently started working on a new IP,” he said. “It is still early in development, but looks very promising and we expect it to turn into a great game.”
“The UK is a very important market for us. Our recent releases such as Infernal, Ancient Wars: Sparta, Xyanide Resurrection and Obscure II have all performed well and we plan to release even more titles in the future.”
Sorry if I sound lame but what’s an IP?

This is sooo vapourware, it does not merit any mention at all right now.
Anything can happen from now until the game gets released, including:
- The new IP being a rubbish game.
- PlayLogic deciding that the Sony’s platforms are ‘too complex’ to write for, afterall. Well, that does seem to be a theme these days, doesn’t it?
- Microsoft buying out PlayLogic and the game never materialising on any PlayStation platform.
I’d rather it was announced like LBP was, ie. it’s future for release on Sony platforms secured, then gamers just have to wait until it comes out. That would be a proper scoop.
Anything else is pure vapourware right now…
