Does anyone actually remember N2O? I remember the 4×4 game was a bit duff, but can’t remember the other one at all. Looks like Tempest from the cover image but who know? Bionic Commando trailer was quite good.
Will give the Motorstorm tracks a whirl over the weekend. Still waiting for Everyday Shooter and PAIN though. Don’t you people want my money?

Hi
I don’t know if this is the official blogg för scee, is it?
I’ve spent 1 hour today trying to find an official adress to scee to complain over the updates in EU.
Why are we getting the scraps from US/JAP??
We still haven’t got some of the games that where availible for month “over there” bowling/pain/GH3 content.
I mean how hard can it be… we are not talking WW2 games here with censoring.
I’m dissapointed almost every time i log in to the store after an update.. trailers, trailers, trailers, but no games.
Comment by snav — Jan 11, 2008 @ 10:21 am
A little OT : I’m not sure if this has been covered already, but is ThreeSpeech run by full-time ThreeSpeechers or fans who happen to do this while working for Sony? Just wondering.
Anyway I was always told if you don’t ask you won’t get and also that there are no stupid questions only stupid answers.
Comment by Savage — Jan 11, 2008 @ 10:45 am
The motorstorm update sounds like it’s worth having. Should keep me busy this weekend anyway.
Comment by reakt — Jan 11, 2008 @ 10:48 am
I think this update is shocking. I have e-mailed SCEE with a very scathing letter. I doubt there is any chance of a response from them even though the main subject of my complaint to them was the utter distain with which they treat their customers.
Threespeech, can you please give me an e-mail,address or phone number that will deal with compaints and maybe even venture a reply to them?
Comment by Ton Capone — Jan 11, 2008 @ 10:52 am
yeah the last few updates have been awful. seriously Sony hows the view from back there, can you get in ok? be gentle!
and god damn it, what the hell happened to the MASSIVE Singstar store? with HUNDREDS of songs avalbile on day one, currently whats it at? 62? hasn’t even got the songs that were on the PS2 version….seriously Sony WTF. GET IT SORTED
Comment by Pete — Jan 11, 2008 @ 10:59 am
Yeah, the psn updates keep dissapointing as usually
Comment by rBerggren — Jan 11, 2008 @ 11:02 am
it’s the mediocre ps1 game releases that get me down.
i thought that the psn was supposed to be full of tight, good quality products with no “average” bloat. the fact that it’s on psn means it’s good….that kind of thing.
i thought it want to be exactly what xbox live wasn’t i.e. 1 good release for 20 bad. it seems that’s the way we’re going.
surprisingly often, awesome old games dont stand the test of time. who in sony thinks that 6 and 7 out of 10 scoring games are worthwhile?
i know, the accountants.
Comment by d33p — Jan 11, 2008 @ 11:09 am
Mostly because i’m slightly bored at work right now -
*edit* hmmm actually not sure if it’s a good idea putting up details of who/when/with threespeech (and it’s parent PR/Media company) are registered online - easily and readily available information but not comfortable dumping it here!
In a nutshell though you’ll see them as part of Ramp Industry which, according to the site, is a content and research company
brought onboard to act as an intermediary between the public and Sony - hence the semi-official standpoint and blurb in the “about threespeech” link.
I could go on but then that’d be bordering on being a weird stalker dude and I am certainly NOT that bored
.

Still no PAIN or HIgh Velocity Bowling then. I am really quite fed up with Sony and their store. Its a load of rubbish. While I am in whinge mode, why don’t we get trials of arcade games before buying them? Some of the games on the US store have trials but we never see them. There should be a trial for every single game on there (when they manage to release games). Sorry but no trial = no game purchase from me.

I’m waiting for all the Motorstorm content (specifically tracks) to be available in one discounted package. Any idea on whether that will be happening now that the downloadable content has probably finished with Motorstorm being out for a year and all the tracks they talked about pre-release now released? I would happily pay £9.99 for a combined track pack.
Comment by Mister Slimm — Jan 11, 2008 @ 11:27 am
I agree with the sentiments above. Sony are taking the total piss with these updates. I haven’t yet seen a PS1 title I wanted to download and the updates seem to be getting worse each week, not better.
I also agree with the Singstore comment. I expected to be struggling to restrict my spending on song downloads but so far I am only struggling to justify buying the game at all when I have a few of the PS2 titles.

If its any help for the non USA members maong you their store has been slowing down too lately. I don’t get whats going on really, LBP for release in Q4?, no mention of the Wipeout HD that was due before then end of 2007, no Wipeout 2097 that was due in AUGUST, no Home… List goes on.
Comment by Terry — Jan 11, 2008 @ 12:06 pm
@14 - But now You are talking about games that aren’t developed/finished.
The thing that gets me worked up is why we in EU doesn’t get the same extra content, demos/full games as US/JAP. Those games are already complete and could easily be ditributed to us as well.
I would also like a way to contact SCEE.
Comment by snav — Jan 11, 2008 @ 12:20 pm
Its just after the holiday season what do you expect? MGS4 demos, K2 demos? free games, LBP demos? come on be realistic ppl - XBL updates are all that great either ya know
Comment by Paul — Jan 11, 2008 @ 12:21 pm
When do we get PAIN and the bowling thing?
????!!!!
Comment by Paul W — Jan 11, 2008 @ 12:30 pm
@16 - I don’t honestly understand what you mean by being realistic? Can You explain why it should take month to get pain/high velocity bowling to the EU-shop.. are you trying to say it’s because of the holiday?
I, as an EU-customer, expect to be treated the same way as customers in other regions.. no worse or better.
Comment by snav — Jan 11, 2008 @ 12:36 pm
another thursday another shitty update,,,
the psn gets worses by the hour we in some need of new content, the ps1 games that are put up are becoming annoying as they are all shit ps1 games i wudnt mind ff7 buh hardcore 4×4 sounds more like a porno than an actual game…
i hope next week’s update is better than this week’ tiresome drivel “crosses fingers”
Comment by Anonymous — Jan 11, 2008 @ 12:53 pm
@15
Most of Japan doesn’t celebrate Christmas as it is not a christian country therefore the ‘holiday’ period would have little effect on development of games from Japan like MGS4 that you mentioned. And it’s no excuse for us getting worse content than other regions. I mean GT5 Prologue is out in Japan already, Pain is on the US store, why are we always behind?
I would dearly love an official SCEE spokesperson to put out a release that clearly and directly answers the questions “Why does Europe get game releases, demos and content later than other regions?”
Of course, the fact that there is no excusable answer is why they don’t!
Comment by TheShirts — Jan 11, 2008 @ 1:02 pm
I’m not normally one to be ungrateful when it comes to these updates like some people are. But this is really getting beyond a joke now!
The US store is getting bigger and more organised with far more categories and sections. The EU store is being left further and further behind.
Where is the Blast Factor add-on (though frankly it’s been so long I’m not even sure I would be willing to pay for it now)? Where is Everyday Shooter? Where is PAIN? And most importantly (for me) where the hell is High Velocity Bowling (still stated as a Nov release on the UK PS site)?
Who decides whether a game is US/Jap only or available to the EU? I spotted the other day that there are games released at the start of last year (Cash Guns Chaos for example) that have never made it across to us, and presumably never will.
It’s unfair and frustrating for consumers. You’ve got people queuing up to hand over cash to SCEE and they just don’t seem interested. I don’t see why some games can come out simultaneously (or even early on the EU store) and others are delayed by months or even cancelled entirely.
It’s not even so much the fact that we have to wait longer, it’s the fact we don’t know how long we have to wait. We blindly logon to the PSN each Thursday hoping for a gift from the Gods, only to be punched in the stomach with a collection of jpeg wallpapers, videos of games already out in the US, and if we’re lucky a couple of crap PS1 games.
How hard can it be to host an up-to-date release schedule for the PSN either on this site or the official site? And I mean actual dates, not “sometime in 2008″
Putting jpeg wallpaper images to the PSN is not a substitute for content! How many people actually use these in preference to the animated background anyway?
SCEE is really showing themselves to be second rate when it comes to programming the PSN, I think they need to advertise for a new position.
Comment by Apnomis — Jan 11, 2008 @ 1:03 pm
Ahh N20. Brilliant shooter! I have to say, I never let my original out of my sight, and I still play it to this day. Fantastic sound track by The Crystal Method too. Yep. A remake would be ace. Now then, is there any way (other than buying it from the PSN) to install my genuine copy on my HDD? I seem to remember talk of a utility to do this, but …. ?
Comment by LordOfRuin — Jan 11, 2008 @ 1:12 pm
Forgot to mention, as a slightly redeeming feature for this update, I think 2 unique built from the ground up MotorStorm tracks for £3.49 isn’t a bad deal and should give a lot of early adopters a chance to revisit what for most was their first (or second behind R:FOM) PS3 game.
I think this will probably be one of the last (if not last) updates for Motorstorm as I would imagine focus will be turning to Motorstorm 2 now…
See I’m not entirely ungrateful…
Comment by Apnomis — Jan 11, 2008 @ 1:12 pm
Also, I think the reason why the Euro release is delayed over everyone else is due to the languages. I’m given to understand that if you release in Europe, you must provide x number of languages. So a Jap language game is out first, English is added, and can immediately be released in the US. The rest get added after, for the Euro release.
It sounds plausable.
Oh and JohnSketch, I know what you did, for I did the same. Ha ha ha!
Comment by LordOfRuin — Jan 11, 2008 @ 1:17 pm
It seems the problem Sony have with releasing PS1 games on PSN is that they are frightened of stepping on anyones toes, they are worried it will stop you buying new releases competing in the same genre. We all know that this isn’t the case for real gamers, but for casuals and parents with younger kids it is very tempting to go for the cheaper option.
It’s all red tape, lawyers and PR people holding back the decent games.

I did get curious though - almost had an urge to post names of folk and who they were with and ip’s of other sites and server they utilise but I doubt anyone at Threespeech would’ve taken that too well!
*Curiousity killed the sketch*

Comment by JohnSketch — Jan 11, 2008 @ 2:24 pm
Maybe Sony should focus on releasing PS2 games via PSN, given that the 60gb PS3 is no longer in development. Yes, PS2 games might be a bit on the bulky side. But like Bill “Pearly” Gates said, we all *want* to spend our time downloading files the size of an A380 Airbus.
Comment by rooee — Jan 11, 2008 @ 2:41 pm
@ NEW MOTORSTORM TRACKS:
These tracks can only be used in ONLINE or TIME TRIAL modes, there are not tickets for single player mode.
Either wait till they (ES) release tickets for said track or just wait for the sequel!
Comment by FunkYellowMonkey(PS3 tag) — Jan 11, 2008 @ 3:35 pm
@ LordOfRuin - If that is the case then I vote that the UK vote for independence from Europe (in Sony’s online World at least)!
I think each Country has their own store anyway as I sometimes see things like “excluding Germany and Sweden” etc next to PSN releases. So it can’t be hard to update the UK site independently.
Why the hell should the UK have to wait for languages we will never use to be added, just give us the straight up US version, we won’t mind! Given that most people on this site (I assume) are from the UK it’ll keep a lot of us happy.
Forgive me if I’m wrong but I’m under the impression the UK is the biggest gaming market in Europe, it’s also the only place in Europe where the Xbox 360 is doing particularly well, so you would think SCEE would prioritise keeping the UK cosumers happy!
I know it’s selfish of me to say it, but why should we suffer the same wait as the rest of Europe if we don’t have to? Either make the PSN global, or make it Country dependent, just stop delaying UK release while you add translations we don’t want/need!
@ FunkYellowMonkey(PS3 tag) - thanks for the heads up! I thought they said they could be played in all modes, I might not bother now…
Comment by Apnomis — Jan 11, 2008 @ 4:18 pm
I’m with Apnomis on this one, why on earth do we in the UK have wait for translations into languages we can’t even understand. There must be more to it though, a mate of mine imported GT5 Prologue from Japan and said it’s mostly in English too so why are we waiting 3 months longer!
Comment by TheShirts — Jan 11, 2008 @ 4:26 pm
I’m a genuine Playstation fan for many years since we got our PS2, a wheel and Gran Turismo 3.
My faith that has been built up over the years has been fairly shattered in the space of months.
I still think I’ve got the right system for my needs and for the way games are going (thank you Naughty Dog for making Uncarted! You saved my PS3 from the clutches of Ebay!).
Its the behaviour of SCEE and their lack of being able to deliver what everyone else can on the PSN. I suspect they have lost somewhere in the region of £40 from me on small games and addons that could have been bought on PSN simply on delivering it late.
See I’ve lost the burning need I had a few months ago for Everyday Shooter and others and now I just don’t care even when they do come out.
Short attention span? Maybe but I’m not alone.
Knowing how large corporations work someone in Sony must be projecting loss of revenue on the failures of SCEE and I’m betting its not a small amount. Why are we not seeing change though?
We’ve been promised it so many times and yet we see bog all.
There are no excuses anymore. There shouldn’t be any in the first place. If you have a problem that prevents your company from making money then you find a solution and implement it. SCEE’s tactic seems to be to bury their head in the sand and pump out another video for something the Americans have been playing for weeks or months.
To use an over used cliche.
SCEE, you are not fit for purpose. Remove yourselves and let someone competent handle things.

Apnomis and others isn’t that rather hypocritical, first you complain that Europe always gets the games later, but then actually you don’t care if the rest of Europe does as long as you get them sooner.
It’s also not just about languages, according to eu.playstation.com SCEE look after 40 locales, and even if the language is the same there may be different legal issues, for example no blood in german games (but in german swiss it’s probably fine).

Chocolate Orange JohnSketch? My goodness, I save them for chrimbo time, and they last roughly half an hour. Then I wish I hadn’t.
Comment by LordOfRuin — Jan 11, 2008 @ 5:47 pm
Well while people have the right to be as unhappy as they want about the fact that games come out at different times around the world, please keep your facts straight. Europe is not ‘allways’ getting titles after other regions. Singstar for instance is only released here in Europe so far. PES has still not been released in the US afaik. And the PSN PS1 game Populous is only released in Europe afaik.
So while we all tend to focus on the games we want and which isn’t out in our region yet, try to avoid truisms which isn’t true.
Comment by Christian — Jan 11, 2008 @ 6:06 pm
Singstar is indeed released in Europe, but what is the point?
The online features have been deemed almost unusable from early on due to terrible server problems. Our Singstore has 62 songs on it as opposed to the 300+ advertised to entice us to buy it. It didn’t come with corldess mics.
SCEE hasn’t come forward with any answers to anyone regarding the poor state of the Singstore or even when we can expect our 300+ songs.
All in all they could have kept it and not bothered releasing as far as I care now.
Comment by Ton Capone — Jan 11, 2008 @ 6:41 pm
PS Singstar was also supposed to be available as a LAUNCH title.

@36 & 37,
exact first 6 months delay and promisses that before of 300+ songs, then suddenly promisses of 300+ before the end of 2007
and now not even close of 25% of the promisses are made,
and of all the songs in the store the majority is Crap English bands of which nobody ever heard of……
nice to put a movie on Youtube

Comment by Kenta — Jan 11, 2008 @ 9:32 pm
@32 - John
I think you don’t give everyone enough credit here. We would all like to see simultaneous releases for all. SCEE should at least do something in the meantime to serve some of their customers.
And we’re at the point now where I don’t care what the excuse is (SCEE have never come here to their paid voice of Sony to actually give one). If your process for releasing a game delays it in a region by MONTHS more than other regions then your process is broken and needs fixed.
Other companies can manage this, why can’t SCEE?

The Eye thing was just a transparent attempt to sell Eye Of Judgement to people who really didn’t have any interest in the game. I think they knew it wasn’t a target American game so released the camera solo but thought they’d try and get a few sales here in the UK. Everyone I know either waited or imported!
Comment by Timbo — Jan 12, 2008 @ 10:10 am
Im really dissapointed with PS eye. Its been out for months now and theres really nothing anywhere near as good as eye toy play. This could have been Sony’s big chance to make the Wii redundant. Looks like they’ve blown it.
On the plus side I just saw the trailer for skydiving , looks great, when is that getting released in the uk?
Comment by phil — Jan 12, 2008 @ 12:14 pm
@ 46 - I sent an e-mail to Threespeech requesting a Sony Q&A regarding the Eye and what we can expect to be released for it. I suggested some questions I would like answered, but I never got a reply so I don’t know if they read it or were considering doing an article…
@ 34 - I don’t think it’s hypocritical to be sick of delays. Yes it a perfect world it would be great if all SCEE locations get it at once, but then in a perfect world it would be a single Global Store.
All I’m saying is it’s not fair if one Country takes 3 months to rate a game or requests sections changed for their Country, it’s not fair to expect the other 39 Countries to face the same delay.
I use UK as an example because I live in the UK, but likewise if the UK was the bottle neck I wouldn’t expect the rest of Europe to suffer the delays. At least then we would know where the fault lies.
The truth is we don’t know what the problem is because the silence from SCEE is deafening! The question has been asked consistently on this site since it launched with no response given.
This site is billed as our link with SCEE, but the truth is they don’t give a sh*te and will release only what they want to release. I don’t believe ThreeSpeech as any influence on the announcements/interviews provided by SCEE.
It’s a far cry from the official US blog that actually have the Sony staff and developers involved, and often when you post a comment there it is answered by another comment straight from the horse mouth.
It baffles me why SCEE continually and willingly allow their reputation to be tarnished so badly on a site that is probably visited by a great many people wondering whether or not to purchase a PS3. All they have to do is answer one simple question…
