We found this on the web and wanted to get your thoughts on it. Seems that you can stream games from your PC to your PS3. Apparently you install Linux on your PS3 and away you go. There is a video here of Crysis being played on a PS3.
Let us know what you think or if any of you already do this.

So we are suggesting the Hypervisor has been cracked and now there is GPU access in Linux? Aside other required hurdles?
Mark one up for credibility tarnishing posts.

Funny, although only the PS3 does not really do any processing. So, the playability of the Game is still dependent on your PC PLUS the PC will lose some performance due to video-encoding…

Probably should of said something about misleading title really.
But now I have one mark for foolish hasty post =P

“Seems that you can port games from your PC to your PS3″
the word ‘port’ really implies that you can play via the console completely when all it does is display the video and send the controls to the pc.
so your post wasn’t all that foolish

We meant metaphorically but will edit the story as we don’t like to confuse anyone on Monday. Friday is confusing people day.

yea, i saw that video on gametrailers. Pointless comes to mind. it’s just mindless crud. u basicly remote control ur pc. who on earth want to do that. if i want to play crisis ill play it on my pc, not go to all the needless hassle of setting up all this so that i can play it away from the computer. Anyone with me???

I suppose this could be pretty useful, if your TV is bigger than your monitor. (Not for me though I share my 46″ 1080p tv with my PS3 and PC
)

I see your point but it isn’t totally pointless. If you only had one PC in the house and the missus wants to do some facebooking or check her email etc, you can just run this and then go play it on your PS3 in a different room.
It works on any machine too so would be good if you wanted to go and play some bleeding edge game on your shite old PC or laptop (provided you had the behemoth to run the game).

Yea if only I had a missus.
Single, lonely gamer, looking for a fun, attractive and really cool female gamer that enjoys anime and gaming (ps3 preferred), discussions about games, walks in the park, can beat me at every game I think I’m good at, Knows how to eat, none of that ‘I’ll just have a salad’ crap. LMAO

I’m not confident enough to mess with the PS3 operating system and the PC i nthe house is hardly capable of playing Solitaire let alone anything cutting edge.

If I wanted to play Cryis on my HDTV, I would rather play it through my PC or maybe my PS3, if Crytek decided to bring it out on the PS3.
Comment by TVR_Fan — Jan 14, 2008 @ 8:04 pm
Isn’t this basically the same as remote play on your PS3 via the PSP?
Comment by Laurens Holst — Jan 14, 2008 @ 10:11 pm
I am not going to do this as I will need to buy a PC and then a copy of Crysis. It just doesn’t seem worth it.
