Am counting the hours until i can download the Heavenly Sword demo.
Any chance of the mega classic Metal Gear Solid 1 being made available for download?.This is one of those games that have aged well and would still be really playable today.
Comment by Andronix — Jul 23, 2007 @ 3:58 pm
Would love to see MGS1, also the Resident Evils - they were classics too. In the vein of Wipeout how baout the third one too?
On a different note does anoyone know how to kill the thing with a big mouth in The Darkness, its keeps killing me even tho I’m filling its face with bullets!

@Terry
Just keep firing, when you get knocked off-target be sure to re-aim quickly. Make sure you aim right into it’s mouth, if you don’t see blood splattering you’re aiming wrong.
Oh, and looking forward to HS demo!

OMG!!! Heavenly Sword Demo. Finally something worth using the PSN for!
Man it’ll take a long time to download, as I have a feeling everyone’s gonna have the same idea come Thursday lol
Comment by InstantKarmaUK — Jul 23, 2007 @ 7:53 pm
MGS1, PSP compatible would be the ultimate.
Failing that, one of/both of the Gran Turismo PS1 games made PSP compatible would be fantastic! Would go a long way to making up for no Gran Turismo Mobile!

[…] The Heavenly Sword demo comes to PSN on Thursday. The game has been on my radar, but more recent positive impressions has my interest piqued. People are calling it a God of War clone, but if it’s a well done God of War clone, and not just a mediocre ripoff, then I’d be perfectly happy with that. […]

[…] HEAVENLY SWORD DEMO COMING THURSDAY? By nylatenite While checking out yesterday’s Penny Arcade comic, I noticed that in his write-up, Tycho mentioned that the long-awaited demo of Heavenly Sword for the PlayStation 3 would be hitting the PlayStation Store on Thursday, July 26th. Since Ninja Theory has already announced that the demo is complete and a post over at Three Speech (by way of Kotaku) indicates that the European demo will be dropping on Thursday, it’s probably a good bet that this one will turn out to be true. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed! […]

WHATS IS THE DEAL WITH THE USA GETTING DIFFERENT CONTENT ON THERE PSN. They had ninja gaiden sigma demo months b4 the uk or euro psn got it and the only difference is being able to cut enemies heads off y is the uk one censored like that. Can there not be just one PSN thats got all the same content that everyone can enjoy if not WHEN THE F~@{ WILL CASTLEVAINIA SoTN come to the uk. I mean in the uk we get everything last we pay almost double for the machine and what have we got to show for it ……the darkness demo

No GT5 or Ratchet and Clank trailers?
Comment by Jamie Kelwick — Jul 26, 2007 @ 11:08 pm
@68 - I agree man. I’m in the US and yeah, we got a lot of trailers, but we didn’t get the Darkness demo, the die hard 8 minute clip, or any of the new PS1 games you guys got today. A lot of us were looking forward to getting Crash 2 and Spyro 2 — and SURPRISE — it wasn’t there. I can understand why they have separate stores obviously for marketing purposes, but this is ridiculous. I really want a Sony rep to respond to this please - if possible. Thank you.
Comment by jfunker — Jul 27, 2007 @ 5:49 am
#74: Look under the E3 folder in videos. You should find the GT5 trailer there
Comment by Erik Hansen — Jul 27, 2007 @ 10:43 am
The PSN is not doing Sony any favours at the moment, its not getting nearly enough content and when content does appear its usually already been on the net. Not very exclusive eh. I understand that marketing varies regionally but why coant the Euro and USA stor be merged together.
Also, there are a lot of “classics” on the PSN, why are the so much to buy, I know 3.49 is not a lot but these are very old games and altho I remember them fondly actually playing them again soon reminds you how far we have moved on since the 90’s.
On a positive note for Sony (and M$) Resident Evil 5 looks AMAZING, if only Sony had managed to heep it PS3 only I would be fully justified as to buying a PS3. At the moment i’m wondering what I would be missing if I had bought the cheaper 360, except for shoddy failture rates of course….
Comment by Terry — Jul 27, 2007 @ 12:47 pm
Also where is Gran Turismo and when will it be getting released I can smell this one slipping forever. PSN content usually appears just after 5pm on Thursdays…
Comment by Terry — Jul 27, 2007 @ 12:49 pm
Bet most of u were pretty gutted about the size of the heavenly Sword demo i no i was, it felt like it was just A TEASE i still loved it tho.
I do want this cleared up why cant all regions get the same PSOne games we are willing to buy them but we cant while others can :S. It is a bit of a farce for other ppl to make a “fake” account for another region just to download FREE demos and trailers.
Comment by reece — Jul 27, 2007 @ 1:13 pm
Yeh the demo ended very quickly, looks amazing tho.
Comment by Terry — Jul 27, 2007 @ 1:58 pm
The HS-demo is a big JOKE!
It would be better to release NO DEMO instead of that what Ninja Theory delivered.
It doesn’t give any hint (…well a very small one) what this game is about.
I don’t know what developers or executives are thinking when releasing something like this?!?!?
…45 min downloading for 5 min of gameplay???
…I don’t get, but maybe a smart person could explain it to me…
Comment by zwirdsch — Jul 27, 2007 @ 5:28 pm
Has anybody else had problems with the MediEvil and the Spyro2 PSone games ? Both crash to black screens for me- Is it just me or has anyone else got the same issues with these downloaded games? Sony have got me in a queue to answer this problem still havnt heard anything even though they said they would phone me up by saturday afternoon…still not heard..
Comment by carl — Jul 28, 2007 @ 5:00 pm
To be honest, after the second round of button mashing in the Heavenly Sword demo, when those guys burst through the door, my heart sank…
…and when the demo faded out, I was actually relieved. This game is nowhere near as much fun as God of War.
Comment by Mothra — Jul 30, 2007 @ 9:17 am
So, we’re getting Crash 2, Spyro 2 and MediEvil are we? Not according to the Sony Europe website.
Hmmm… hello Mr Arse, I’d like to introduce you to Mr Elbow…

I downloaded the “Heavenly Sword” (Playable) Demo for the PS3 yesterday evening at the cost of 998Mb of PS3 Hard Drive space… and then got from start to finish in about six minutes [even after dying once, and re-starting]!
It was OK gameplay-wise, but the demo of “Ninja Gaiden Sigma” was better (read: much longer). Visually “Heavenly Sword” was pleasant in close-up character shots, but when fighting at distance it was difficult to tell what was going on. The attack/action & guard buttons were a bit bizarre compared with other titles I’ve played, but it is maybe because I didn’t quite understand what weapon I had & what to do with it. The lip-synchroni[s|z]ation was good [far better than the awful PS3 “Sonic the HodgeHeg” offering (that couldn’t be hard, to be fair)], however, skipping the first scene of the “Heavenly Sword” demo with a touch of the ‘X’ key meant I had to wait what seemed SEGA-ages for the main game to load; at least a minute of a ‘loading…’ screen. There must be some background-loading of textures/content etc. whilst you are sat through the odd dialog[ue] between the two characters in the cut-scene – this needs to be rectified before a general release I think.
When it does hit the (virtual) streets, if I see it cheap enough, say 30-35 GBP then I may buy it, but upwards of 35 GBP I could probably find much better uses for the cash (e.g. “Assassin’s Creed”, “Stranglehold”, “Jericho”, “Resident Evil 5”, “Time Crisis 4”, etc).
BFN,
fp.
